Title:  Senior Analyst, Expense Planning and Analysis

The Senior Analyst will be a member of the Expense Planning & Analysis department reporting to a Senior Manager.  The individual will be responsible for providing support with consolidation and analysis of the all-bank operating expense reporting, including actuals, planning and forecasting, and project assignments.  The individual is also responsible for the coordination, tracking, reporting and analysis of the all-bank staffing.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Prepare monthly/quarterly reporting of Corporate Functions expenses.  Responsible for the accuracy of consolidating financial information for actual, plan and forecast.
  • Provide timely and meaningful reporting and analysis of Corporate Function expense allocations to the business lines.  Identify underlying drivers for expense variances and other emerging issues.
  • Perform or assist with analysis and reporting of all-bank expenses, including plans and forecasts across all major expense categories and perform deep dives where appropriate.
  • Support Senior Manager in the efforts of building financial models, automate reporting processes and develop process controls
  • Responsible for managing Corporate Functions allocation process (system coordinator).  Ensure all forecasts and plan are loaded into the system smoothly and correctly.  Coordinating between OPEX, BLAS, Hyperion Tier 4 and OBI 2.0. 
  • Undertake special projects and respond to priorities and Executive Management requests on a wide range of expense/allocation/other topics, providing value-added views and recommendations.
  • Create the Blue Book All Bank Staffing Report for quarter-ends, including the gathering of staffing data, analysis and commentary from the business lines
  • Assist in ad-hoc expense analysis/trending, reporting and processes for quarter-ends, forecasts and planning cycles
  • Participate in other projects as assigned


Experience / Education:


  • Post-secondary degree in Finance or Accounting with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.  
  • Completion or enrollment of a professional accounting designation or MBA is preferred. 
  • A good understanding of financial and management reporting principles; ability to sustain a broad-based knowledge of the Bank’s and Corporate Functions’ strategy, operations and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently, quickly, accurately and to multi-task to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral) to liaison with various business lines, support units, EO groups, etc
  • Strong computer skills including Excel, Powerpoint, and financial modeling. 
  • Knowledge of BLAS, EGL, OBI, Hyperion (HPS) and Smartview is an asset.
