Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the Enterprise Ethics & Compliance Learning team accountable for specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Champions a client focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
- Assists the Senior Manager, Enterprise Conduct & Ethics and the Director, Enterprise Ethics & Compliance Learning in the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the Enterprise Conduct & Ethics program as follows:
- Coordinates the update of policies, procedures and standards/guideline documents associated with the Enterprise Conduct & Ethics program in line with Global Compliance processes.
- Manage escalation through central mailboxes, to triage requests for advice and counsel on, and interpreting our Scotiabank Code of Conduct (our “Code”) and supporting policies, procedures and guideline documents ensuring there is a consistent interpretation and implementation and directing inquiries from stakeholders as appropriate
- Supporting operationalization of policies, procedures and standards/guideline documents by assisting to develop and deliver training materials and providing stakeholder socialization, and supporting with collating assessments (including NIRAs, RCSAs) in relation to the Enterprise Conduct & Ethics program

- Supports in the development and implementation of communication strategies/plans and training to support our Code and the Enterprise Conduct & Ethics program to promote strong ethical standards. Includes maintaining content and resources on team sites (e.g., SharePoint) to ensure content is current and available Bank-wide, as well as internal team resources (e.g., team shared drive, group email distributions) to enable access by Enterprise Conduct & Ethics team
- Assists in monitoring ongoing and emerging Conduct & Ethics issues, and industry intelligence and other research studies
- Assists in preparing reports and documents for Senior Management and Committees, as requested
- Provides back up support for Senior Manager, Enterprise Conduct & Ethics during absences.
- Coordinates and tracking External Board Member Code attestations including preparation of the annual Code declaration
- Coordinates and supports audits (internal and external) including regulatory requests for information
- Undertakes other projects and initiatives, as requested by the Senior Manager and Director.
- Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite & risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture, and conducting all activities in compliance with Scotiabank’s Values, our Code, governing regulations, internal policies and procedures including AML/ATF/ sanctions, Anti-Bribery & Anti-Corruption and the Global Sales Principles

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We'd love to work with you if you have:
- Post-Secondary education Business Administration/Commerce, Law or Political Science
- 2+ years of banking/financial services experience with an emphasis on compliance, risk management, and/or advisory services
- Critical thinking and detail oriented, and research skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to senior leadership audiences
- Strong building trusted business relationships
- Experience in managing several ongoing assignments and competing priorities concurrently, working independently and as directed by assigned team leads
- Results-driven focus, with strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to operate in a high performing, flexible and team-based environment
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office software including advanced PowerPoint to create resource materials
- Fluency in Spanish is an asset
