You will drive the review and continuous improvement of resilient technical architectures supporting critical business functions in Global Wealth Management (GWM), to ensure the designs comply with the requirements for Service Reliability. Build a holistic view of all critical infrastructure and front-to-back applications technology supporting GWM. Primary responsibility is governance of architecture resiliency and ITSM process for GWM Technology division. You will collaborate with enterprise and solution architects, engineering teams, and business stakeholders to embed resilience patterns, standards, and controls into new and existing solutions. This role is pivotal in ensuring GWM’s technology platforms are robust, scalable, and compliant with regulatory and business requirements
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
- Architectural Reviews & Resilience Patterns
- Ensure system architectures that can withstand failures and continue to operate smoothly. This includes redundancy, failover mechanisms, and disaster recovery, scalability.
- Produce gap analysis for the top tier applications and roadmap to close the resilience deficiencies.
- Review and advise on solution designs in architecture review boards (ARB), ensuring adherence to resilience policies and standards.
- Lead or participate in reviews of production solutions to assess resilience posture and identify improvement opportunities.
- Support the development and maintenance of resilience-related architecture guidance, templates, and governance artifacts, and standards for resilience, automation, and observability.
- Advise project teams on resilient system design, including cloud, distributed systems, and hybrid architectures.
- Customer focus and Business-Aligned
- Understand GWM business functions in the bank, which requires understanding business services.
- Own the business functional knowledge base broadly across the GWM Tech applications and interactions, to ensure compliance with reliability requirements like SLO & resilient architecture.
- Map system dependencies for applications supporting GWM’s critical business services.
- Translate business continuity and regulatory requirements into actionable technical designs and
- controls.
- ITSM ownership for GWM Tech:
- Lead IT Service Management function for GWM Technology: Problem & Incident Management and Change Management, Capacity Management, Cost Optimizations.
- Govern these ITSM processes with high standards. Ensure all GWM applications align with Technology
- Change oversight process and Incident & Problem Management processes.
- Oversee periodic review of TCO (total cost of ownership) & Capacity planning across GWM Tech Applications.
- Provide leadership to the team supporting ITSM functions.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Participate in post-incident reviews where architectural or engineering deficiencies are root causes, and drive feedback into continuous improvement.
- Analyze major or recurring incidents to identify resilience gaps and recommend architectural or process changes.
- Collaboration & Influence
- This position is part of the SRE team for GWM division. Collaborate with the Service Reliability Engineers (SRE) in the team on key SRE drivers like SLO.
- Work closely with enterprise architects, security, risk, and operations partners to align on resilience objectives.
- Mentor and support junior team members in resilience architecture best practices.
- Communicate resilience posture, risks, and recommendations to technical and business stakeholders to influence prioritization and investment.
- Monitoring & Automation
- Design and propose enterprise automation capabilities and resilience dashboards, that provide actionable insights into system health and reliability trends, in depth data-analysis to gauge service trends and drive improvements.
- Develop automation capabilities to improve operational efficiency and reduce risk.
- Establish and maintain resilience KPIs for critical services.

- Experience and Strong foundational knowledge across multiple technology domains (cloud, distributed systems, networking, databases, security, microservices, DevOps, AI, etc.).
- Advanced understanding of architecture frameworks and resilience patterns.
- Knowledge of banking back-end business services and preferably Wealth Management.
- Knowledge of automation, monitoring, and observability tools.
- Experience in latest programming technologies like Python.
- Analytical thinking, strategic influence, and effective communication skills (verbal & written).
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and independently research new technologies.
- Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional background.
- 10+ years of experience in software architecture and development, with at least 2 years in architecture, solution
- design, and 2+ years in leadership role.
- Strong understanding of SRE principles, SDLC, and IT service management (SRE certification is an asset).
- Experience in financial services or regulated environments is an asset.
- Knowledge of SRE and business continuity requirements.
- Experience working with large-scale distributed systems in financial institutions, including cloud platforms.
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability.
