Contributes to the overall success of the Scotia Digital Customer Security Services (CSS) in Canada ensuring deliverables are of the highest quality while adhering to defined release, change, project and architectural standards and methodologies by leveraging an agile scrum team (Product, Engineering, Agile, Design).
Responsible for managing the complete software delivery life cycle based on the product roadmaps, onboardings and technical release plans developed by the Leadership Team. It is also including the identification, escalation and removal of release and team impediments. 


Is this role right for you?

  • Responsible for the Release Management lifecycle that involves the stages such as plan the release of project deliverables, scheduling the release, coordinating between teams, and deployment of release as per schedule/ budget
  • Release software after completing the testing stage and deployment stage, and work closely with the application development team, testing team, and production team maintaining proper coordination between these teams to update the project related information
  • Define the strategic usage of release management tools to manage the revenue for the releases
  • Communicate the project-related tasks such as plans, timelines, requirements, etc.
  • Coordinate the release schedule and resources required depending on backlogs, planned releases, etc.
  • Identify the risks that can delay the release and manage them and lead the Go-Live activities to deploy the software successfully
  • Schedule the release readiness reviews before deployment and milestone reviews after each release
  • Create plans for the implementation and deployment as per the release schedule
  • Communicate with release managers from different tenants
  • Present and get approvals of each release in the CAB meetings
  • Maintain documentation related to procedures on build and release, various notifications lists, and dependencies
  • Builds and maintains professional working relationships with peers within project management and business lines
  • Works with team to identify roadmap/feature dependencies and impediments. Accountable for tracking the dependencies and impediments and removing them to enable the team: surface, track, escalate
  • Identifies team conflict and partners with Scrum Master to resolve. Escalates conflict to the Leadership Team as required
  • Budget: accountable for awareness and communication to stakeholders
  • Administrative: ensures the completion of required forms and processes for Bank-wide release management, including the OR/NIRA process.  Maintains vacation schedules and makes resourcing recommendations
  • Regularly conveying status to team and management
  • Support creation of materials for various management reviews and meetings
  • Help drive best practices in order to eliminate waste, increase innovation and create value for the business
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills with ability to build and foster relationships with business users, stakeholders, technology partners and coworkers
  • Participate in all aspects of a project life cycle (Requirements, Analysis, Design, Code, Test, Implementation and Production handover)
  • Knowledge on Authentication and Authorization technology best practices
  • Proactive, eager to learn, and to have a 'Can Do' attitude
  • Solid understanding of Agile methodology backed by hands on experience, development techniques and best practices for an enterprise framework
  • Processes strong problem-solving and analytical skills to rapidly assess problem situations and develop solutions
  • Accountable for prioritizing tasks and delivering on all assigned work
  • Must be flexible to adapt to a dynamic environment, make quick and sound decisions under pressure
  • Must be reliable, pro-active, results-oriented, customer-focused and attentive to details
  • Must be able to think conceptually out-of-the-box and operates independently day to day
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • CSM, PMP is an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate on a broad spectrum (from deep technical discussions to high level executive vision)
  • 5 - 7 years professional work experience, software delivery & Scotiabank experience considered a bonus 
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CD/CI) pipelines 
  • Working knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle
  • Team management skills
  • Experience in the use of Application Release Automation tools such as ElectricFlow, Puppet Enterprise, Buildmaster, and Visual Studio Release Management.
  • Experience of traditional agile methodologies, including Scrum, Waterfall, Kanban
  • Good understanding of application infrastructure, system architecture, and operating system
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and client relation skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives
  • Requires expert knowledge of project management tools and methodologies
  • Experience with Agile software development and project management methodologies
  • Skilled in communicating design concept to influence audience for difficult decisions
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of QA methodology, procedures and standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities, demonstrated from both technical and business perspectives
  • Excellent problem-solving skills; have vision and innovative approach to computer-based solutions and ability to convey these ideas
  • Exceptional planning and analytical skills, ability to focus on the critical issues
  • Must be flexible to adapt to a dynamic environment, make quick and sound decisions under pressure
  • Must be reliable, proactive, results-oriented, customer-focused and attentive to details
  • Strong knowledge and demonstrable experience of common IT organizational technology and processes.
  • Must have an expert ability to balance competing or conflicting goals of various departments/stakeholders, requiring a mature, diplomatic approach and well developed negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office - Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Solid experience working on Infrastructure centric platforms and cloud based computing, cloud foundry, a good understanding and working knowledge of the server and network configurations both for deployment and at run-time is an asset
  • Strong knowledge and demonstrable experience of common IT organizational technology and processes
  • Possess well developed leadership ability, as well as coaching and training experiences
  • Ideally possess demonstrated examples of work around transformation & driving efficiencies
  • Banking/Financial Services’ working experience would be an asset
  • Self-motivated; work both independently and collaboratively with multi-functional teams
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills are essential
  • Fluency (writing and speaking) in Spanish language is an asset
