Project Leader - Development

Purpose:

The incumbent is required to coordinate development and delivery activities and ensures deliverables are of the highest quality while adhering to defined release, change, project and architectural standards and methodologies by leveraging a team of technical staff.

The incumbent performs requirement gathering, manages resources, sub-projects and activities, while contributing to delivery goals in direct support of business drivers for our clients in Global Risk Management.

Major Accountabilities:

  • Leads the execution of day-to-day project and task oriented work efforts and meeting customer expectations for contracted time, cost and specification definitions.
  • Responsible for creating project plans and teamwork assignments, directing and monitoring work efforts on a daily basis, identifying resource needs, performing quality review; and escalating functional, quality, timeline issues appropriately.
  • Operationalizes technical and managerial processes and supervises the development and maintenance of business support systems.
  • Coordinates communication with all areas of the enterprise that impacts the scope, budget, risk, and resources of the work effort being managed.
  • Leads a team of IT professionals and is responsible and accountable for solution delivery.
  • Leads the team in the areas of scheduling, technical direction, future planning and standard development methodologies.
  • Negotiates IT project requirements (i.e. deadlines, budgets, resources, etc.).
  • Demonstrates the ability to distil technical details into business/user consumable terms
  • Ability to facilitate sessions across management, scrum teams and technical folks
  • Builds and maintains solid, professional working relationships with peers within the project management and business lines.
  • Meets scheduled milestones to ensure project/program objectives are met in a timely manner, has an in-depth knowledge of the principles, theories, practices and techniques for managing the activities related to planning, managing and implementing software solutions. 

 

Education/Work Experience/Designations:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science or technical equivalent
  • 5 - 7 years technical work experience including development, business analysis and project delivery
  • Previous development experience in .Net, Power BI, Java, SQL, ETL tools
  • Demonstrates understanding of agile software development methodologies, values, and practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and client relation skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives
  • Technical designations/formal training an asset.
