PLATO Program Director


Scotiabank is at the forefront of digital transformation in the financial services industry in Canada.  To maintain its leading position, Scotiabank has given a mandate to the Platform Organization to build the PLATO platform.  PLATO is an evolving technology platform consisting of cloud-based infrastructure offerings, a continuous integration and deployment pipeline, and various developing data offerings.  The Platform’s purpose is to modernize software development practices and tools within the bank to allow technology teams to reduce cost, improve time to market, and bring the bank’s software offerings into the modern age.   

We are looking for an organized, detail oriented Program Director to join our team.  In this role, you will work with a multi-disciplinary team of senior executives, organizational leaders, engineers, process specialists, product managers, and others to plan and execute engagements with the bank’s technology teams.  You will be accountable to the VP of Product for leading strategic and tactical initiatives from engagement through execution.  More specifically, your responsibilities will include:

·        Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the target outcomes are achieved.

·        Establish scope of each project or initiative; monitor and control scope to ensuring focus on delivery.

·        Manage reporting for all assigned initiatives.

·        Establish roles and responsibilities for each initiative.

·        Identify resource requirements, set expectations, and manage stakeholders to enable efficient and effective achievement to project outcomes.

·        Create plans and manage dependencies.

·        Conduct appropriate status review sessions and escalate issues as necessary.

·        Manage any assigned budget and/or project funding by contributing to monthly forecasts, quarterly accruals, and year end carry forwards.

·        Direct planning, scheduling, resourcing, risk assessment, cost/benefit analysis, milestone determination, and final deliverables definition within the initiative or project.

Having the following will help you be successful in this role

·        Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related discipline.

·        7-10 years of IT Project and Program Management experience, with experience in large enterprises.

·        Strong understanding of agile project management principles and practices and experience managing projects in an agile environment.

·        Mature interpersonal skills with the ability to work with, and influence, all types of professionals.

·        Track record managing projects and programs of increasing complexity with large budgets and high risk.

·        Project and program management experience in the software engineering and financial services industries.

·        Experience with Digital Transformation and/or Cloud Migration is an asset.
