The PEGA Team

Scotiabank is looking to provide an engaged and aspiring developer with an opportunity to train in our Global PEGA Academy. Building capabilities to develop Pega based applications for Internal Bank processes in a diverse and global Technology team.

 

The Role

After completing training, the PEGA Solution Associate role would provide specialized technical analysis, design, development, implementation, architecture, and support of Pega-based solutions. The Pega Solutions Associate is also responsible for current and future implementation projects within the group, introducing new technologies to meet business objectives and providing technical consultation and guidance to all development projects. They adapt to the challenges of changing environments and infrastructures to meet client deliverables.

 

Some of the Key Accountabilities include:

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Develop high quality deliverables across all phases of a project, from participating in the requirements, design and build phases through to post-implementation support.
  • Participate in all aspects of application development for assigned applications or technology
  • Collaborate and team up with product owners, technology team, and colleagues. Continual focus on Customer success.
  • Participate in reviews and walkthroughs of all major project deliverables to ensure the quality and completeness of functionality, meeting high availability, integrity, and reliability requirements
  • Keep current on rapidly changing technological trends, new technologies and maintain an understanding of the Division’s business and technology strategies.
  • Provide input & ideas to clients and team members across business and technical project dimensions, solving complex business requirements.
  • Provide production and user acceptance testing application support to complex technical problems on all assigned applications and technology that serve each business unit by analyzing problems, implementing solutions, and developing new procedures surrounding support. 
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Successful Candidates

  • To join our team, you must be proactive and demonstrate initiative, and have an eagerness to learn, and thrive on challenges
  • A degree in computer science, math or engineering related discipline is desirable
  • Experience in analysis, design & development, of Java centric enterprise solutions
  • Experience in OOP (Python, C++, PHP, etc), desirable.
  • Object-Oriented design and coding experience. Oracle and/or DB2 and MS/SQL are assets.
  • Creative and flexible in identifying technical solutions to resolve business problems in a rapidly changing, demanding and complex business environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills to deliver proposals, provide user support and interact with team members and other departments.
  • Ability to develop an advanced knowledge of the Pega Rules Process Commander 'PRPC' Architecture quickly and independently and all PRPC design and implementation features.
  • Flexible and adaptable, the individual will be open to learning new methodologies, tools, platforms, and systems.
  • Ability to meet and manage tight and changing deadlines and priorities
  • Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills to drive dialogue with business partners to understand their underlying needs and requirements while managing their expectations given the limitations of the framework
  • Solid customer focus skills to discern underlying client needs and foresee opportunities to enhance level of service and increase solution’s scalability
  • Strong team focus with a genuine interest in working collaboratively with others, mentoring peers and being open to giving and receiving constructive feedback. Experience with Pega Case Management and Workflow related concepts and data is an asset.
  • Agile project experience will also be an asset
  • You will be expected to learn Pega development skills through our training program and participate in Pega’s exam to become Pega CSA certified within 3 months of hire.
