JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Global Networks Service & Reporting team, the network reporting analyst role will be responsible for the development & maintenance of network reporting across all teams within Scotiabank’s Global Network Services (GNS).

 

The Senior Analyst will work closely with network engineering, business process management and operations teams within GNS, other Scotiabank IT teams, and our suppliers to implement a unified network reporting function based on our current tools and based on self-developed automation, scripting, etc with the goal of assisting the team to obtain and provide the required network data with minimal manual work effort. The individual will also be required to identify and drive opportunities for automation with the goal of enhancing our current toolset and enabling automation initiatives.

 

We are looking for an individual contributor with at least 1-3 years of software development and API integration experience who has familiarity with networking technologies, while contributing to a fun and collaborative team environment. This person should be a great teammate, with proficient analytical skills and applied Agile development experience.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
 

  • Develop cost effective and efficient solutions (reports, dashboards) to meet department objectives of providing operational data in a meaningful and useful format for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Help develop ‘Real Time Reporting’ to assist in depicting the current state of the Global Network as well as position and re-use of this data to provide ‘business centric’ reporting and trending of our operational network ‘State’

     

  • Implement new systems or enhancements by reviewing programs written by team members, establishing and executing system test procedures, developing implementation plan, developing the required program and system documentation and ensuring all functionality has been delivered as required. The incumbent is also required to provide post implementation support documentation and training to the users or audience who will leverage the data /functionality being delivered
  • Develop and maintain reports utilizing latest reporting trends to create dashboards displaying Key performance indicators (KPI) and Metrics.
  • Provide technical guidance and review to other team members by conducting technical walkthroughs.
  • Keep current on rapidly changing technological trends, self-teach new technologies and maintain an understanding of the Division’s business and technology strategies.

 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • The incumbent must have a good understanding of business systems analysis and development.
  • The incumbent must have good analytical, problem solving and trouble shooting skills in order to develop and support systems to meet user requirements. The incumbent must be creative and flexible in identifying technical solutions to resolve business problems in a rapidly changing, demanding and complex business environment. The incumbent must have a detailed understanding of the application systems he/she is responsible for. The incumbent must have good interpersonal and communication skills in order to deliver proposals, provide user support and interact with team members and other departments.
  • The incumbent should have a knowledge of the following technical skills:
    • Enterprise networking technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, Routers, Switches, Firewalls, Software-Defined Networking)
    • System analyses and design
    • Multiple operating platforms, such as Linux (RHEL) and Windows
    • Programming languages (C, Shell scripts, Python, R) and programming methodologies
    • Knowledge of Service Now
    • Mark-up language and database technologies (JSON, XML, YAML, SQL, NoSQL)
    • Private and public cloud technologies (GCP, Azure, PCF)
    • IT automation tools (Ansible, Ansible Tower)
    • Development techniques, such as debugging, testing, coding, use of productivity tools
    • Hardware and operating system configuration
  • Experience with Agile concepts and toolkit (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, Git, Jenkins)
  • Understanding of Big Data, data pipelines, and ETL
  • Understanding of networking tools such as Splunk, CA eHealth, What’s Up Gold, Statseeker
  • The incumbent is guided by Bank policy and receives general direction from the Manger and the Project Manager for the projects assigned. The incumbent is expected to function independently to ensure that the assigned tasks and project objectives are met.
  • The incumbent must be a self- starter and be confident to drive requirement clarification discussions to help solidify the objectives/goals being developed.

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • A degree in computer science, math or engineering related discipline is desirable, along with 1-3 years practical experience.
  • ITIL Foundation certification(s) highly desired
  • Cisco or similar networking certifications are an asset.

Computer, System, Network analyst background an asset.
