Purpose 

 

Leads and oversees Business Strategy across Investment Advisory, ensuring the development and advancement of growth priorities, business development initiatives, and client strategies. The role is accountable for shaping the enterprise growth agenda, aligning leadership on priorities, and driving strategic initiatives that support revenue growth, advisor productivity, and client outcomes across MD, Medicus and SJF.

 

 

 

What you will be doing:

 

  • Leads and drives a client-focused, growth-oriented culture to deepen client relationships and enhance advisor productivity across Investment Advisory. 
  • Develops and advances Investment Advisory business strategy and growth agenda, including client acquisition, business development, and market positioning. 
  • Defines and advances client acquisition and relationship growth strategies across Investment Advisory, aligning business development, segmentation, and relationship management to drive sustainable growth. 
  • Identifies and drives strategic initiatives that support revenue growth, advisor capacity, and client experience improvements. 
  • Synthesizes business insights, market trends, and competitive intelligence into strategic recommendations for executive leadership. 
  • Aligns business development initiatives across MD, Medicus, SJF, and related Wealth businesses to ensure consistency, coordination, and scalability. 
  • Develops strategic and tactical business plans aligned to each business line, ensuring execution readiness and measurable outcomes. 
  • Supports the design of advisor and leadership operating models, including service models, sales leadership structures, and growth frameworks. 
  • Leads cross-business and cross-functional programs to advance sales effectiveness, client engagement, and business growth. 
  • Oversees marketing and communications alignment to support brand positioning, advisor engagement, and client growth initiatives. 
  • Drives recruitment, talent development, and leadership capability strategies to strengthen pipelines and support long-term growth. 
  • Establishes reporting and tracking for strategic initiatives, ensuring clear visibility on progress, outcomes, and accountability. 
  • Acts as a strategic advisor to senior leaders on growth opportunities, business priorities, and execution alignment.  
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. 
  • Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.  
  • Builds a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team. 

 

Do you have the skills to enable you to be successful in this role? We would love to work with you if you have:

 

  • 10+ years’ experience in business strategy, business development, or sales leadership within financial services or wealth management. 
  • Strong understanding of advisor-led business models, client acquisition strategies, and revenue growth drivers. 
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and provide strategic advice at the executive level. 
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans, growth initiatives, and cross-functional programs. 
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
