Title:  Multimedia Designer

The Multimedia Designer is an animator and innovator, who demonstrates the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, working on multiple projects. This person acts as both a hands-on producer as well as a strategic, conceptual leader in-line with the Bank’s overall business strategy. The candidate will interpret and translate our brand into quality motion design, and can effectively communicate this point of view with stakeholders and senior management.


In this role, you’ll work with a wide variety of business lines, creating fun, engaging animations that bring products and services to life from both a video and web perspective. You’ll coordinate with a team of designers, managers and 3rd party vendors to produce brand relevant digital experiences across desktop and mobile, and aid in identifying technology solutions that meet both business and creative goals.

1. Multimedia Design Strategy & Execution

  • Collaborates with the creative team in producing creative content for digital media including but not limited to: motion graphics, video, web, social, email, and presentations.
  • Implementation of creative design, development & execution of marketing and internal initiatives by:
  • Effectively manage the interests and input of all stakeholders – managers and business lines.
  • Provide direction and guidance throughout the design and development of marketing initiatives.
  • Ensure executional accuracy and professional excellence while managing brand architecture and graphic issues in all advertising media, customer communication and staff materials, maintaining a clear customer focus in all communication projects emanating from the Bank.
  • Content management of intellectual property and assets.
  • Revise existing creative accordingly and work with managers for sign-off.
  • Release all approved material using appropriate distribution platforms and channels.
  • Archiving of files
  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices in Multimedia Design & Omni-channel delivery.


    2.  Communication (Creative Studio)

  • Ensuring all assigned projects are of the highest professional quality and that the Bank's brand standards are adhered to; delivered on time and within budget; developed, designed and produced in the most effective and cost-efficient manner by staying current on new developments taking place in interactive design and digital media.
  • Proactively managing updates and improvements through internal coordination with internal digital partners, IT development, business owners and quality assurance teams.
  • Working closely with the design team and translation services to ensure designs are translated accurately into visually compelling components, coding and testing websites and/or interactive modules and communicating changes to critical users, including senior management.
  • Working with clients to sign-off and release all approved material 


    3. Monitoring / Reporting

  • Accurately track all hours and revisions for Studio metrics.



    This job is accountable for the following:

  • Receiving briefs from Sr. Manager/Director, Creative Studio and other Sr. level members of the organization as well as working directly with client on feedback and revisions. Plus working in tandem with our Graphic, Multimedia designers on creative conceptualization and fulfillment.
  • Requires understanding of all Scotiabank Groups, branding and marketing channels.
  • Expertise in all forms of traditional marketing channels and proficient in required specifications.
  • Total Complement supervised – Direct 1 – Indirect – Occasional consultant or temp. worker.
  • List regions/countries accountable for: All



  • 5+ years in role in either agency, broadcasting or in-house studio environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills to clearly communicate the complexities and components of any project to external suppliers and internal groups
  • Fluency and/or comprehension of the Spanish language a definite asset
  • Fluent in rich media advertising creation and specification, deep knowledge of video and motion design best practices. HTML5, CSS, image optimization, responsive design, and Google AdWords certification an asset
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative suite of products on a Mac platform, specifically: After Effects, Premiere, Audition, Media Encoder, Animate, Illustrator, Photoshop, In-Design, Acrobat
  • Knowledge of Cinema4D, Microsoft Office suite, and Keynote an asset
  • Degree in Graphic, Web or Multimedia Design
  • Sound knowledge of marketing disciplines and processes within the financial industry
  • Apply design theory and impeccable attention to detail in creative
  • Meticulous eye for animation timing, visual storytelling, typography, layout and video composition in communicating motion design
  • Experience designing storyboards and style frames for broadcast and digital platforms. Strong vector design skillset inclusive of drawing ability required
  • Strong technical background familiarity with ftp and online delivery systems
  • Solid understanding of Scotiabank's Brand Identity guidelines
  • The ability work on complex projects independently, within tight deadlines, adapt to changing deadlines and deliver material as per workback schedule
  • Confident interpersonal skills with client focus and ability to work with technology vendor, peers and customer staff at all levels
  • Ability to understand client requirements and communicate effectively
  • Solid footing on the line between creative expression and commercial reality
  • Pre-flight of all external material to ensure it meets vendor and client specifications
