Purpose
The ideal candidate is a visual storyteller who can drive impact. The motion designer and editor is responsible for aiding in the creation of creative projects that build pride and promote the Banks corporate story focused around innovation and technology. In close collaboration with the team and communications partners they provide full-service creative production for Internal & External communications. With a solutions-driven attitude they are creating thoughtfully without losing sight of commercial realities, budgets and business objectives. This may involve working with Scotiabank clients, managing updates and improvements to technology solutions and ensuring risk assessment procedures are adhered to, execute appropriate avoidance or mitigation strategies, and escalate as required.

Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
Creates impact through professional, storydriven motion design and video editing by:
• Designing and producing high quality motion graphics and animations that translate complex business ideas into clear, engaging visual narratives across video and digital platforms.
• Develops and applies motion design styles, templates, and graphic packages that align with Scotiabank brand standards while allowing flexibility for executive, campaign, and storytelling needs.
• Collaborating closely with producers, editors and communications partners to concept, storyboard, and execute motion-led solutions that enhance storytelling impact.
• Integrating motion graphics seamlessly into edited content, ensuring strong visual hierarchy, pacing, and clarity across titles, lower thirds, data visualizations, and transitions.
• Editing video content with creativity and precision, ensuring alignment with narrative goals, brand standards, and audience expectations.
• Crafting compelling visual stories by selecting the strongest takes, refining pacing, and integrating graphics, music, and sound design to enhance impact.
• Learning about the Bank’s strategic priorities and objectives to make informed editorial choices.
• Collaborating with stakeholders to incorporate feedback efficiently, managing revisions and following timelines and communicating changes to critical users, including senior management.
• Organizing and manage media assets, project files, metadata and version control to ensure smooth workflows and easy access for team members, following the Bank policies and compliance standards and ensuring that system confidentiality is maintained at all times.
• Troubleshooting project issues and resolving conflicts as required; gathers facts, assessing options and determine appropriate solutions. Communicating changes to critical users, including senior management.
• Exploring and applying emerging video & motion design techniques, tools, and workflows to continuously elevate creative quality, efficiency, and innovation within the studio.
Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Dimensions
• Receiving briefs from Senior Producer and Director as well as working directly with client on feedback and revisions. Working in tandem with other team members on creative execution, fulfillment and distribution.
• Countries / regions / business units supported: Global scope, but majority of the creative development & execution will be Canada based and focused on technology and innovation.
• 1+ direct reports and supervisory role with students and consultants.
• Number of projects: Across the team approximately 200 projects in F2025.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:
• Degree in Motion & Graphic design, Broadcasting, Video production, or related studies.
• 5+ years industry experience as motion designer and editor in professional broadcasting, studio, in-house or agency environment.
• Passion for the craft of storytelling and communication with well-rounded understanding of video editing, visual composition, graphic design, color theory and animation.
• Proven ability to make creative and stylistic choices to capture audience’s interest and attention.
• Solid footing on the line between creative expression and commercial reality.
• Has advanced technical knowledge including video, graphic design, sound design, color correction, digital technology and software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Davinci Resolve etc.).
• Solid knowledge of 3D motion design skills (Blender etc.)
• Demonstrates a learning mindset that strives for new, better, more innovative results.
• The ability to work on complex projects collaboratively and independently, within tight deadlines, adapt to changing deadlines and deliver material as per workback schedule.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills to clearly communicate the complexities and components of any project to external suppliers and internal groups.
• Confident interpersonal skills with client focus and ability to work with clients, peers and staff at all levels.
Working Conditions
1.The position is carried out in a recording studio environment, which presents low risk of injury or il health from physical or environmental factors. Moderate travel domestically or working offsite maybe required. Non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
2. The environment in which the incumbent works is characterized by its fast pace. Frequent changes in priorities and activities on concurrent projects may result in high stress levels on periodic basis.
3. The position is required to use a MAC from 32-37 hours per week under normal working conditions. Concentration is needed to review and edit video and audio content.
