Purpose
The Market Lead, Wealth Insurance is responsible for development and achievement of the market strategies, business development, and overall revenue growth in accordance with sales goals in Western and Central Canada regions. The Market Lead will report to the Regional Director, Wealth Insurance and will directly lead and oversee the Wealth Insurance Consultants (L07) in Canada, ensuring sales targets, business strategies, and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, and internal policies and procedures. The team of Insurance Consultants are responsible for driving lifestyle insurance protection solutions/revenue (term, disability, and critical illness insurance, and immediate annuities) within their assigned region. This falls in support of the permanent insurance strategy and deliverables, driven primarily by the Senior Insurance Consultants.
The incumbent will work closely with business line leaders, advisors and SWM colleagues across all business lines, as well as their direct reports to raise awareness of insurance solutions strategies. The incumbent will support a collaborative working relationships with the Senior Insurance Consultants to ensure that, together, they provide comprehensive sales support in a way that leverages their skills and maximizes their collective efficiency. While the role focuses primarily on leadership of those delivering lifestyle protection solutions, they also may be called upon to represent SWIS in partnership functions, delivering presentations and raising awareness.
The incumbent understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions, ensuring that all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Accountabilities
- Developing a professional, mutually beneficial and profitable relationship between the client (advisor team) and Insurance Consultants (IC). Leads and drives a customer focused sales culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Acting as the central point of contact for an assigned team of Insurance Consultants, ensuring all aspects of assigned team members receive ongoing coaching and support, as required, to maintain, improve, grow and retain our relationships with advisors and relationship managers.
- Providing coaching around the Wealth Insurance sales & servicing processes and solutions that enable client goals by delivering strategic insurance solutions in accordance with client life goals, circumstances, and wealth needs
- Partnering with all regional and national internal product/service business partners, as required, to ensure that the team has up to date business line information around their offerings and strategies
- Frequent travel to visit offices and meet with team members and partners is required
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Education / Experience
- Life Insurance Licensing (LLQP) is a requirement, extensive knowledge of life insurance industry is an asset
- University or College Degree (preference of Business, Economics, Accounting, Finance, however not critical)
- Strong consideration given to candidates with a minimum of 5 years direct experience in Wealth Insurance, and/or Total Wealth and Financial Planning, and past sales leadership experience within Scotiabank, preferably with a larger team.
