The Market Lead, Custody Services is a regional management position responsible for leading and overseeing the business strategies, plans and initiatives of a Custody Services team that provides services to Scotia Wealth Management’s private clients and institutional investors. The incumbent is accountable for the effective delivery of services, is client-centric with a proactive approach to managing a team and managing relationships with internal partners in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures. The position is also responsible for the identification and pursuit of new business, working with partners and the National Director.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
- Manage a team and its delivery of professional and proactive services to clients and banking partners
- Demonstrate product expertise and personal integrity, championing a client-driven culture to deepen client relationships and build broader Bank relationships
- Be accountable for team staffing and motivation through the setting of objectives, training, and managing annual performance reviews and employee development plans
- Plan and execute business strategies and budgets that complement and support the objectives of maximizing profitability and ensuring client satisfaction
- Identify and drive new business opportunities, along with partners and the Director, driving the coordination, presentation, and implementation of services
- Proactively liaise with internal operational support groups (i.e., Global Wholesale Operations, Canadian Wealth Management Operations), to investigate and resolve issues, escalating and referring matters to other resources where appropriate
- Manage more complex / higher profile client relationships
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
- Ensure thorough knowledge and strict adherence to the Bank’s Global Sales Practices
- Create an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk
- Build a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma Canadian Securities Course (CSC) or related experience
- Minimum five years’ experience in People management in the financial services industry including strong operations and securities administration skills
- A high level of knowledge and broad range of experience relating to custody services for individual and institutional clients
- Familiarity with compliance around anti-money laundering conventions and international tax treaty conventions, including FATCA, CRS, QI
- Familiarity with the operation of various Registered products i.e., RRSPs, RRIFs, TFSAs, etc.
- Demonstrably well-developed technical, analytical & research abilities
- A focus on attention to detail, with a strong willingness, desire, and capacity to expand knowledge
- Effective communication and team building skills
- Entrepreneurial with proven ability to manage a team that represents the business in delivering a proactive and responsive client experience
