Purpose

 

The Senior Investment Consultant acts as a subject matter expert within the OCIO Office, providing institutional-grade insights on the firm’s on-shelf and off-shelf investment offerings. Focused exclusively on Ultra-High-Net-Worth clients, the role delivers informed opinions on Assets Under Administration (AUA), complementing advisor-led discussions on discretionary assets. This position bridges the UHNW platform, Capital Markets capabilities, and client advisory channels to ensure solutions are aligned with each client’s objectives, risk tolerance, and sophistication. Through disciplined analysis and platform stewardship, the role reinforces the firm’s commitment to governance, transparency, and excellence in total wealth delivery.

 

 

Accountabilities 

 

•    Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
•    Service UHNW clients through Scotia Global Intelligence (SGI), our newly created UHNW premium offering that includes data aggregation and oversight of held-away client assets through OCIO services. Champion the development and implementation of SGI to support all GWM distribution channels. 
•    Provides the OCIO perspective on AUA portfolios, articulating investment rationale, positioning, and platform alignment in support of UHNW client and advisor discussions.
•    Serve as a subject matter expert on the firm’s Capital Markets and institutional capabilities, identifying opportunities to extend these solutions to sophisticated private clients.
•    Support access to private trading and execution capabilities, ensuring UNHW clients benefit from institutional-quality market access, liquidity solutions, and customized trade implementation. 
•    Contribute to platform design and oversight, evaluating on- and off-shelf offerings for performance consistency, suitability, and alignment with OCIO standards.
•    Contribute to the ongoing development and commercial success of the OCIO platform, helping to define product evolution, drive adoption, and achieve revenue and growth targets for the UHNW segment. 
•    Collaborate with advisors, portfolio managers, and internal partners to ensure that investment insights, governance principles, and market perspectives are effectively communicated to clients.
•    Represents GWM in client meetings, events and media relations as a global thought leader.
•    Aligns wealth solutions and capabilities in Canadian and International markets, with a focus on innovation, risk-management, and risk/supervision centers of excellence.    
•    Drive a "Total Wealth" strategy across GWM’s Global Investment Solutions (GIS) team. Builds and develops deep relationships with relationship managers in GWM, including SWM, IWM, and GFOG. 
•    Directs day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank’s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicates the Bank’s risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.
•    Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. 
•    Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team

 


Education/Experience

 

•    Deep knowledge and understanding of investment industry
•    Understands the regulatory framework; has worked with both IIROC and OSC 
•    CFA designation, Finance degree and proficiency requirements for registration with regulators  
•    10 years of portfolio management experience, including budgeting and leadership
