The Managing Director, Canadian Business Banking Segment, Global Transaction Banking (GTB), provides strategic direction, leadership, and end-to-end accountability for the deposits and transaction banking portfolio for the Business Banking segment in Canada. The role is accountable for driving sustainable deposit growth, optimizing portfolio performance and pricing, and delivering a differentiated digital and sales enablement strategy that enhances client experience and front-line effectiveness.

 

Reporting to the Managing Director & Global Head of Products, Liquidity, Trade & Channels, with a dual reporting relationship to the SVP, Business Banking, the Managing Director will integrate product management, portfolio optimization and pricing, digital strategy, and sales enablement into a cohesive growth and execution agenda. The role works across Canadian Banking and Global Transaction Banking to deliver market-leading solutions for Business Banking clients while aligning with enterprise platforms, risk frameworks, and regulatory requirements.

 

Accountabilities

 

  • Lead and drive a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Integrate product, pricing, digital, and sales strategies into a cohesive growth agenda for the Business Banking segment, with accountability for performance outcomes including deposit growth, revenue, client acquisition, and experience metrics.
  • Provide a single point of accountability to GTB and Business Banking senior leadership for Business Banking outcomes in GTB, leading segment prioritization and investment decisions while balancing trade-offs across competing initiatives.
  • Ensure Canadian Banking requirements are prioritized within the broader Global Transaction Banking model and support effective decision-making between Canadian Banking and global product and platform teams.
  • Define and govern the Business Banking segment deposit product strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment to business growth and client priorities as well as integration with pricing, digital, and sales enablement strategies.
  • Hold accountability for portfolio performance, deposit growth, and margin optimization outcomes, including pricing strategy, governance, risk appetite, and data-driven decision-making frameworks.
  • Define the digital vision and prioritized roadmap for Business Banking and oversee the execution of digital initiatives delivered in partnership with Technology and GTB Channel teams.
  • Ensure digital investments are aligned to maximize client adoption, operational efficiency, and sales outcomes.
  • Establish the segment's sales enablement strategy for transaction banking products, ensuring the delivery of tools, campaigns, and capabilities to branch and frontline teams.
  • Drive alignment between product, pricing, and sales execution to improve productivity and client outcomes.
  • Direct day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank's risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits, and communicate the Bank's risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout the team.

 

Education & Experience

 

  • Senior leadership experience in business banking, commercial banking, transaction banking, deposits, payments, liquidity, product management, or related financial services functions.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian SME and commercial banking deposit and liquidity markets, including competitive dynamics, regional considerations, and client segment needs.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing product, pricing, portfolio management, channel, analytics, and sales enablement strategies.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrixed global organization, balancing Canadian Banking priorities with global GTB platform ownership, governance, and execution models.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing senior stakeholders across business, product, technology, risk, operations, and global partners.
  • Knowledge of banking regulations, risk management, operational controls, conduct requirements, and internal policies relevant to deposits, payments, and transaction banking.
  • Demonstrated ability to define strategic priorities, manage complex initiatives, and deliver business results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
  • Proven people leadership experience with the ability to lead, develop, and inspire high-performing teams.
