Purpose of Job


The Manager Special Projects, Amex is part of GRM Retail Risk Credit and Life Cycle team of Caribbean and Central America (C&CA). As a key member of the GRM Retail Risk Credit and Life Cycle team you will be responsible to develop project documentation for various processes, put together schedules for the team and work alongside various different teams with strong focus on credit risk processes, data management and the implementation of new technology tools such as TRIAD and Probe. Analyze processes and controls across credit card processing applications such as TSYS and FDR while identifying and driving solution opportunities for improvements relating to the Credit Risk indicators, financial data, other operational systems and data lake.


Key Job Accountabilities:

  • As a member of a GRM Retail Risk Credit and Life Cycle team develops data requirements and specifications for credit risk measurement, accounting, systems, processes, methodologies, and models. Strong focus on retail credit risk related systems.
  • Prepares documentation and/or presentations relating to: methodology; processes; implementation; testing; controls / governance; and analyses performed.
  • Contributes to development, execution, and/or documentation of testing processes, test cases & expected results related to project deliverables.
  • Contributes to successful completion of project objectives under tight timelines, including identification of risks, agility, resolution of ambiguity, and development of mitigation strategies.
  • Leverages credit card processing, strategy coding and credit risk operating system knowledge to analyze and define requirements in an intersect of compliance, scoring, operations, IT, reporting, regulatory, and data needs.
  • Collaborate closely with various teams including Risk technology, vendor teams like TSYS or FDR, Project management, pricing & scoring team covering input's & outputs from/to the risk strategies and operating models (i.e. TRIAD and TS Prime Probe systems etc.)
  • Performs Testing, Review & reconciliation of source data inputs and outputs from/into the risk strategies from the Data Lake and/or source systems.
  • Review of risk management tools & reports including recommending to senior management opportunities to stream-line, and introduce new risk analytics/technologies that will strengthen the ongoing bank's strategic initiatives.
  • Simulation and Implementation of Risk strategies and scoring models as required by the project.
  • Understands various documentation stakeholder requirements, and proposes, defines, and implements the overall system documentation structure design.
  • Conducts business testing on data, systems and processes to ensure compliance with documentation. Works in collaboration with Project Team in the design & implementation of a Future End-to-End Data, System and overall business Solution.
  • Provide business, score modeling, testing and other requirements of the project as assigned to ensure strategic objectives are accomplished;
  • Contributing to initiatives ranging from large strategic projects to ongoing maintenance activities.

Skills, Experience Required:

  • Experience in the Retail Credit Risk Industry with strong knowledge of Credit Card lifecycle.
  • A solid understanding of Risk technology systems like TSYS and/or FDR.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts concisely to technical and non-technical audiences, in written form.
  • Strong knowledge of project management lifecycle like agile or waterfall methodologies.
  • Good teamwork, collaboration, and co-operation is a requirement.
  • Excellent communication and written skills complemented with analytical & problem-solving skills


Education Requirements:

  • University degree in relevant STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)
