Purpose of Job:

 

  • Analyze, develop, and implement empirically derived strategies, credit policies, procedures and models to enable the Bank to adjudicate new retail credit, and grow existing credit in assigned markets and regions.
  • Work with business line partners to ensure business strategies across life cycle are consistent with the Risk Appetite Framework (a forward-looking, predetermined amount of credit and other risk that the Bank is willing to take)
  • Monitor, assess and evaluate various life cycle strategies as well as overall portfolio performance. Through various dimensions of analysis, work closely with business partners in Toronto and other countries to develop actionable tactical recommendations to enhance program effectiveness and profitability
  • Design and develop portfolio segmentations for the purpose of optimization of sales/profitability and risk adjusted return using sophisticated data mining techniques. This includes identifying opportunities for better management of existing strategies and processes for Originations and Account Management.
  • Support team in implementing strategies through various automated risk systems.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage risk technology and using automated decision technology
  • Engage in bank projects as assigned.

 

Major Accountabilities:

 

  • Able to analyze data to detect trends of customer performance, document analytical methodology and present findings
  • Drive continuous improvement in strategy effectiveness with focus on incremental profitability and risk adjusted return
  • Leverage Champion / Challenger capabilities wherever possible to confirm assumptions and justify changes
  • Identify if any credit risks are or will become in excess of the Risk Appetite Framework. Move quickly to rectify including identifying root cause, making recommendations to senior management and implementing any recommended changes to any/ all of life cycle business strategies.
  • Work with various risk teams to ascertain and drive credit risk optimization strategies throughout markets assigned. 
  • Recommend and present risk strategy proposals to business line and key stakeholders.
  • Research and identify industry best practices and regulatory requirements for credit risk management as appropriate
  • Be a subject matter expert for assigned portfolio segments and associated credit risk strategies
  • Understand Risk System technologies and implications to credit risk strategy design
  • 1Be a champion for change and execute with high velocity

 

Education / Work experience required:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, business, math, statistics or quantitative finance
  • Prior experience in credit risk management
  • Prior experience in analytics
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written, in English
