The Role

Leads and oversees Distribution Services in Canada ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

 

  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Oversee end-to-end Distribution Services Operations across all locations ensuring timely, accurate, and secure handling of materials and documents. Act as a key escalation point for operational issues, ensuring quick resolution and minimal disruption to the business
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team by setting clear expectations, fostering accountability and engagement, supporting employees through change, identifying and addressing skill gaps through development and cross-training and empowering team members to contribute ideas that improve operations and service delivery.
  • Establish and monitor service standards, KPIs, and SLAs to ensure consistent service delivery across all locations. 
  • Drive operational efficiency and continuous improvement by reviewing and standardizing processes, leveraging technology and automation, using data and performance metrics to identify and address inefficiencies, optimizing staff models and workflows and delivering measurable improvements in service quality, turnaround times and cost effectiveness. 
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. 
  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:

 

  • Experience leading a team preferably in the administration and operations area
  • Expert knowledge of Branch operating procedures
  • Expert knowledge of regulatory requirements including OHS, AML, CDIC, Privacy and Access to Basic Banking
  • Knowledge of Project Management fundamentals and best practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of people performance management techniques.
  • Working ability to manage several priorities simultaneously which will include the delegation of assignments and follow-up with staff
  • Working knowledge of Bank accounting, controls, Organization and Structure
  • Working knowledge of Business Continuity Plan and Compliance Reporting requirements.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications.
