Purpose
In this role you'll contribute to the overall success of Global Transaction Banking (GTB) across Scotiabank's markets, by defining and developing transformational opportunities in GTB while ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. This role will work closely with business lines to define and validate strategies covering GTB's Canada and global markets while ensuring that all activities conducted follow governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Strategic Planning and Projects (70-80%)
    • Drive the execution and ongoing management of GTB strategy planning
    • Perform strategic and business analysis, identifying key issues and proposing recommendations for GTB’s strategy.
    • Support quarterly and annual business planning activities, synthesizing financial performance, key drivers, and strategic implications for senior management
    • Manage multiple project workstreams, including leading problem-solving sessions, workshops and interviews with cross-functional and business line working team members and subject matter experts
    • Assist with organizing strategy offsites for senior management to facilitate ongoing discussions around the GTB’s strategy
    • Complete competitive / business environment research and benchmarking to determine emerging issues and trends and analyze the impact/ implications of those trends on GTB’s strategic plan
    • Establish standardized frameworks and templates for business line performance tracking and reporting to drive consistency and transparency across GTB

 

  • Strategic Initiatives / Innovation (20-30%)
    • Support the evaluation and execution of innovation initiatives across fintech, payments and digital assets
    • Translate innovation opportunities into clear business cases, value propositions and implementation roadmaps for senior leadership
    • Support the ongoing assessment and development of opportunities for GTB, performing external client exploration of related business challenges across priority markets, and executing the analysis and communication of conceptual opportunities
    • Prepare project plan to ensure deliverables and timelines are met
    • Create financial models to assess future state financial benefits/costs

 


What You'll Bring:

  • Undergraduate degree in business or engineering; graduate business degree
  • 2+ years of experience in corporate strategy, consulting, investment banking, or strategy and operations experience within a financial services company
  • Strong understanding of the domestic and global transaction banking and payments landscape, and market usage across segments. General knowledge of global transaction banking trends and technologies
  • Exceptional planning and analytical skills, ability to discern research information / data and focus on the critical business issues
  • Highly developed relationship management skills to effectively manage relationships across the Bank, partners and external vendors

 

Working Conditions:

  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
