The Role
International Wealth Management (IWM) is strengthening its First Line of Defence (1A) Risk function to support safe, scalable growth across a complex, multi-jurisdictional business.
As Manager, 1A Risk Transformation, you will play a key role in enhancing the business control environment by supporting risk monitoring, quality control testing, issue management, and control oversight activities across International Wealth Management. You will partner closely with business leaders, Compliance, Audit, and Risk teams to drive consistent risk management practices, strengthen controls, and support the evolution of a scalable and sustainable First Line of Defence risk program.
This role provides exposure across multiple wealth businesses, including Private Banking, Asset Management, Brokerage, Trust, and Pension businesses operating across international markets.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Support the development and execution of quality control, monitoring, and testing programs across International Wealth Management.
- Perform control testing activities to assess control effectiveness and identify gaps, weaknesses, and emerging risks.
- Support the implementation of standardized risk and control frameworks, methodologies, and testing approaches across jurisdictions.
- Document business processes, controls, testing results, and supporting evidence to maintain audit-ready records.
- Conduct root cause analysis and identify trends through testing, monitoring, and issue management activities.
- Track remediation actions and validate the effectiveness of corrective actions and control enhancements.
- Produce reporting on testing outcomes, issue remediation progress, and overall control effectiveness.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and management reporting.
- Partner with Business Controls, Compliance, Audit, and Risk teams to support alignment across risk programs and testing activities.
- Support governance committees and leadership forums through reporting, analysis, and presentation materials.
- Identify opportunities to improve risk monitoring, testing efficiency, control effectiveness, and scalability.
- Support the implementation of automation, reporting, and data-driven control solutions.
- Contribute to the continuous enhancement of the 1A Risk operating model and business control environment.
- Promote a strong risk culture focused on accountability, transparency, and proactive risk management.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:
- Prior experience in financial services, risk management, operational risk, controls testing, audit, compliance testing, or risk oversight.
- Experience performing quality control (QC), quality assurance (QA), controls testing, monitoring, or audit activities.
- Knowledge of risk management frameworks, control frameworks, and enterprise risk management practices.
- Experience with issue management, remediation tracking, and control effectiveness assessments.
- Experience conducting root cause analysis and identifying control deficiencies.
- Process mapping and process documentation experience.
- Experience developing and maintaining KPI, KRI, risk reporting, and management dashboards.
- Knowledge of operational risk, compliance risk, conduct risk, and non-financial risk management practices.
- Experience within wealth management, private banking, brokerage, asset management, pensions, trust businesses, or international banking environments.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP functions.
- Experience with Power BI, Power Apps, Visio, Microsoft Access, SQL, Python, Crystal Reports, or other reporting and analytics tools.
- Experience with data management, data analysis, data governance, and reporting automation.
- Knowledge of audit methodologies, testing methodologies, and controls assessment techniques.
- Bilingual English and Spanish proficiency is considered an asset.
