The role:
This role has responsibility for ensuring accurate and timely reporting of Regulatory Capital components for Derivatives and SFT (including Repo, Rev Repo, SBL, Margin lending) portfolios for Total Bank, including both on- and off-balance sheet exposures. This position requires hands-on manager who has excellent communication skills and deals with the changes effectively. This role also requires to significantly engage and coordinate with key stakeholders in GBM, PC, Market Risk including counterparty credit risk, Middle office, and Global APP etc.
This role requires strong Derivatives and SFT knowledge, and extensive understanding of OSFI’s Capital Adequacy Guidelines as well as proficiency in MS office (Excel, Access, Power BI)Power BI and preferably coding skills (SQL, Python).
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
- Perform quarterly Revised Basel III Regulatory Capital reporting with respect to Derivatives and SFT portfolio, BCAR filing for subsidiary and ensure delivery timelines are met, and issues are resolved.
- Responsible for ensuring accuracy and completion of the capital calculations, in addition to providing rationale for the respective capital variances
- On a quarterly basis, prepare Pillar III disclosures relating to Derivatives and SFT portfolio, Derivative Maturity Tables for the MD&A and Financial Statement Note disclosures for the Annual Report.
- On a quarterly basis, prepare CME filing and submission for BNS
- On a semi-annual basis, work on Bank’s participation of QIS studies as initiated by BIS consultative documents, concentrating on Derivatives and SFT portfolio.
- Provide ongoing subject matter expertise regarding the reporting capabilities of the Capital Reporting systems (AXIOM capital calculation engine and reporting)
- Participate in User Acceptance Testing and Regression Testing for Derivatives and SFT portfolio.
- Work with External and Internal auditors to ensure that all Financial Statement and Pillar 3 Disclosures are published as per SOX, RDARR and EUC processed designed.
- Make recommendation to Senior Manager on improvement opportunities in existing methodology and process.
- Create Power BI reports that will lead to automated reporting.
- Support the team with in-depth analysis for systems changes and banks' readiness to comply with any new and proposed rules to the Regulatory Capital guidelines.
- Support RWA initiatives related to Derivatives, SFT and Standardized floor.
- Act as RRTOM Working Group committee on behalf of Capital Management – provide updates on requested compliance deliverables.
- Prepare Quarterly/Annual review and signoff for CRCA under eRCM program on behalf of Capital Management.
- Lead other projects related to EUC listings, and Regulatory Capital Procedure listings.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:
- University degree in Mathematics, Business or Computer Science, with at least 4 years of demonstrated work experience in a cross-functional environment.
- Accounting Designation is an asset
- Good knowledge of complex financial products, and related financial reporting requirements.
- Good working knowledge of Scotiabank’s Finance systems (eg. SmartView/OBI), derivatives reporting systems, CDS, GLRS, and MRM systems.
- Understanding of the Revised Basel III framework and OSFI’s CAR Guidelines
- Exceptional attention to details.
- Good knowledge of database management software, such as Access, Power BI to facilitate manipulation of large volumes of financial data.
- Highly proficient in Excel, Access, PowerPoint and other MS Office suite products, including familiarity with Power BI.
- Solid financial modelling skills.
- Experience in process automation and reconciliations.
- Strong knowledge of Derivatives Portfolios and SFT, including product knowledge, related accounting, counterparty credit risk, leverage risk, valuation, settlements, and netting.
- Superb self-motivation and work attitude, excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication skills
Working Conditions:
This position requires production of accurate information to generally predictable but occasionally unpredictable deadlines. Month-end, quarter-end and year-end reporting periods bring long hours and some weekend work. The incumbent will work under considerable time pressure during those periods.
