Global Finance - Reporting, a finance function providing financial management and analytical support to Executive Management. The Global Finance team supports Canadian Banking, Global Wealth Management, Global Banking and Markets, International Banking, Group Treasury and Executive Office business units.  This role reports to the Director, Financial Reporting and will primarily be responsible for the financial reporting and analysis for Group Treasury and the main support for reconciliation and adjustments for ALM (Asset Liability Management) data used for Gap Analysis by Group Treasury in support of the Bank’s Structural Interest Rate Risk (SIRR) strategy. This role directly supports regulatory compliance (RDARR, IRRBB, etc.) for the Bank, is responsible for externally published disclosures, and is accountable for the OSFI interest rate risk (I3) filing.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

 

  • Provide main support to the Group Treasury ALM team in reconciling, adjusting, and reporting of Asset Liability Management data for use in Gap Analysis in support of the Bank’s Structural Interest Rate Risk (SIRR) strategy and regulatory compliance requirements (RDARR, IRRBB, etc.)
  • Manages the monthly and quarterly reconciliation process between Bancware to the General Ledger to ensure the completeness of ALM data for SIRR reporting.  Resolve reconciliation breaks; input of foreign currency (or other, as needed) ALM data into Bancware; review of Bancware rules and ALM product mapping as required to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Assist Group Treasury (ALM Reporting group), in the month over month reasonability analysis of the repricing term structure supporting the Gap Analysis.
  • Partner with Divisional Comptrollers, product groups and local management across business lines and geographies to assess impact of business changes and incorporate changes in Bancware as needed.
  • Accountable for the timely preparation of external disclosures including Contractual Maturity table for MD&A, annual Loan Maturity table, and large fund deposit note. Includes reasonability analysis to ensure completeness and accuracy of external disclosures.
  • Liaise with the operational and/or finance focal points in trading units for timely capture of a) contractual maturities of the trades for the quarterly MD&A reporting and b) repricing tenor for financial note disclosure including promptly identify the contact in a new trading unit/transit and convince the criticality for information for the Bank’s reporting requirement.
  • Accountable for the preparation and submission of the quarterly “Interest Rate Risk and Maturities Matching Return (I3)” for the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institution (OSFI) filing in Canada.
  • Deliver, analyze, and support the monthly and quarterly financial reporting of Group Treasury results including timely identification and resolution of all material issues.
  • Lead and implement changes to support strategic business changes, management decisions, process improvements and efficiency initiatives.
  • Maintain and develop strong controls over operational and analytical processes.
  • Direct day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank’s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicate the Bank’s risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.

  • Detail oriented, ability to relate financial data to business results and identify issues and trends.
  • Post-secondary degree in Finance or Accounting. An MBA or professional accounting designation is preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge of PeopleSoft EGL, OBI, Excel, Power Point and Adobe
  • Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking and provide forward thinking recommendations.
  • Solid understanding of financial and management accounting standards. Proven quantitative and financial analytical skills.
  • Highly organized with demonstrated experience in solving problems and making decisions in time pressured environments.  This involves the ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure for sustained periods of time and multitask effectively.
  • A solid understanding of elements of effective control over data accuracy and completeness.
  • Strong team player with proven ability to work effectively to achieve common objectives
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently, and to produce accurate and complete information under tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills such as the ability to communicate findings/analysis and present ideas in a clear and concise manner.
