Purpose

The GRC Systems team supports our stakeholders to identify, design, implement and extract value from the Bank’s GRC solutions, as we continue to build a leading, best-in-class Global Compliance function to maintain customer trust and protect the Bank’s reputation.

The Manager, GRC Systems, contributes to the overall success of Global Compliance and facilitate Bank’s ability to drive consistency across areas of the Bank globally through aligned and simplified processes, increased automation and integrated technology solutions to provide a holistic view of key factors for risk management and executive decision making.

 

Accountabilities 

  • Perform the analysis and development of Business Requirements (User Stories) that impact the Bank’s GRC Systems, assessing impact on processes and controls associated with the Global Compliance pillars.
  • Support the Sr Product Owner, ensuring system development lab’s capacity is continuously optimized to deliver system functionality that meets quality and user requirements, within the agreed to timeline and budget
  • Provide Operational Support, under the direction of the Senior Manager, for specific requests submitted by Global Compliance’s Pillar Owners, related to GRC systems such as Enterprise Case Management – ECM / OpenPages / Clause match or other, acting as SME and representing GRC Systems.
  • Collaborate with delivery teams, performing user acceptance testing, to ensure the product delivers as intended and proposing adjustments to plans to deliver on objectives within budget and timelines.
  • Partner with Change Management team to develop system adoption strategy and continuous enhancement of training materials.
  • Create process lifecycle documentation (functional requirements, system development milestones, user test, deployment roadmap) related to GRC system initiatives
  • Data analysis – including data retrieval, analysis and maintenance of required reporting solutions
  • Be actively involved in the preparation, conception, realization and Go Live of implementation projects
  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk

 

Education/Experience

Graduate or undergraduate, with preferred concentration in technology, risk management or business, and relevant financial services or risk qualifications. In addition, the ideal candidate should have:

  • Experience in a Regulatory Compliance, Audit or Internal Controls role
  • Implementation experience technology solutions (e.g. ECM, OpenPages, RSA Archer, ServiceNow, MetricStream)
  • Proven ability to develop dashboards and visual reports to track progress on projects, deliverables, resources
  • Proven experience working with multi-disciplinary project groups
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a proven ability to develop and implement solutions to complex issues
  • Ability to learn and adapt to rapidly changing regulatory and business environments
  • Proficiency with Web-based applications, and strong skills in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), particularly with respect to data analysis in Excel or more advanced data mining tools
  • Strong time management, project management, research and analytical skillsets
  • Verbal and written fluency in Spanish is an asset
  • Experience working in an Agile environment and transform business requirements into User Stories.
