Communications Manager contributes to the overall success of the Total Rewards (TR) COE globally ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

 

  • High-Performance Culture Enablement

    • Lead strategic planning of department events locally and globally, meetings and social activities (e.g., Town Halls, learning events, team huddles, etc.) and support executive team/ presenters in preparation.

    • Manage department event planning and implementation end-to-end.

    • Lead centralized employee engagement efforts through the design and delivery of TR communications and programs (e.g., ScotiaPulse, Viva Engage, Recognition, Volunteering, etc.)

    • Create compelling and well-designed PowerPoint presentations for various purposes (meetings, events, projects, etc.) aligning with Global Brand Standards. 

    • Develop & manages internal TR SharePoint site(s) to ensure content is maintained, up to date and easy to access to enable effective collaboration. 

  • Total Rewards Strategic Communications 

    • In partnership with Corporate Communications, develop and deliver comprehensive employee communication plans to drive key TR programs and priority projects.

    • Analyze the effectiveness of communication strategies and adjust as needed.

  • Promotes a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

  • Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment. 

  • Works effectively in new or unfamiliar situations or processes, putting structure around ambiguous tasks that have often not been completed before.   

  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. 
     

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

 

  • A bachelor's degree in human resources, communications, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience

  • 3+ years of experience developing and executing employee communications, working across digital, video and social platforms

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), storytelling and interpersonal skills in both English & Spanish

  • Understands key metrics used to measure communication effectiveness 

  • Ability to effectively consult with and influence stakeholders, subject matter experts, and senior leadership and anticipate their needs and interests.

  • Results oriented and able to effectively execute in a fast-paced environment 

  • Ability to work independently within a deadline-driven environment

  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective business relationships including comfort interacting with senior executives

  • Solid decision-making, time management, organization, planning & prioritization skills. 

  • High proficiency in using Microsoft O365 products for both personal productivity and collaboration

  • Continuous improvement mindset to recommend and implement changes

  • Ability to quickly build trust and credibility

  • Actively listen and seek to understand needs with genuine curiosity and coaching questions.

  • Proficiency in creating visually appealing and impactful presentations using PowerPoint including graphics, charts & infographics as needed.
