This role supports the Physical Threat Intelligence Unit in achieving its objectives by providing expertise in tactical and operational intelligence. Plays a critical role in the identification and assessment of physical security risks to Scotiabank's people, physical assets, and business operations globally. Ensures that all activities conducted globally are in compliance with governing regulations and internal policies and procedures, while contributing to the Unit’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of security and operational readiness.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

 

  • Manage the day-to-day execution of Corporate Security’s tactical and operational intelligence mandate including collection of information and data from open and closed sources to identify, assess, and report on physical security risks to the Bank’s people, physical assets, and business operations globally.
  • Contribute to the development of best practices, standard operating procedures, and guidelines for the practice of tactical and operational intelligence across Corporate Security.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and support to cross-functional teams within Enterprise Security, acting as a trusted resource for analysis, interpretation, and assessment of physical threat and risk.  
  • Manage the preparation, review, and sign-off of intelligence reports to ensure outputs address stakeholder requirements.
  • Effectively communicate intelligence via written assessments and verbal briefings to both technical and non-technical audiences, translating complex information into actionable insights to support proactive risk mitigation efforts and drive decision-advantage.
  • Oversee acquisition, integration, and maintenance of threat-related information and datasets to support intelligence workflows and drive accuracy, completeness, and relevancy of information collection plans.
  • Lead in the development and implementation of new intelligence product lines to enhance physical threat and risk assessment capabilities. Identify opportunities for innovation, efficiency, and effectiveness of tactical and operational workflows for physical threat and risk management.
  • Lead the recruitment, coaching, and skillset development of intelligence analysts

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

 

  • Undergraduate degree in Intelligence, Political Science, Global Affairs, Journalism, International Relations, Data Analysis, Criminal Intelligence, or a similar field of study is required.
  • Graduate degree in Intelligence, Political Science, Global Affairs, Journalism, International Relations, Data Analysis, Criminal Intelligence, or a similar field of study is preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in intelligence analysis is required (e.g., private sector and/or government/law enforcement at the federal, provincial, or municipal level).
  • Strong understanding and experience applying structured analytic techniques to intelligence workflows
  • Strong understanding of Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) tools and methodology
  • Experience with Geographic Information Systems (e.g., ArcGIS). 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with demonstrated experience presenting analytic findings in a clear, concise, and actionable format.
  • Strong organizational skillset, including management of multiple information flows, requests, and management and prioritization of multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (SharePoint, Office, PowerPoint, Excel etc.).
  • Fluency in English, Spanish is an asset
