Contributes to the overall success of operational risk management capabilities for Scotiabank’s global enterprise by managing special projects to support execution of program enhancement opportunities. The Manager, Operational Risk Program, Strategic Initiatives, is responsible to support key projects that improve risk management governance, regulatory compliance, process efficiency, and enterprise risk oversight for programs within Operational Risk, working collaboratively with stakeholders and partners across the global footprint to drive these initiatives. Special projects will include the development of an enterprise Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) technology solution and a Process Risk & Controls (PRC) framework for the Bank.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Supports the identification and implementation of process improvement opportunities to advance the Operational Risk Program, including Process Risk Control (PRC) Inventory, RCSAs, NIRAs, Scenario Analysis and KRIs.
- Champions a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Supports engagement with key stakeholders, ensuring their needs and expectations are met throughout the project lifecycle.
- Fosters a collaborative and productive working environment to achieve project success.
- Develops and manages project budgets.
- Delivers end-to-end capabilities within the context of an assigned project.
- Maintains effective communication channels with project teams, stakeholders, and senior management.
- Deploys change management strategies to enable the success of desired project outcomes.
- Ensures activities are delivered with a sense of urgency and arising risks/issues are raised to appropriate leadership.
- Provides project reporting, including regular status updates and ad-hoc summaries of timelines, risks and issues.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:
- Undergraduate Degree or higher and minimum 7+ year’s relevant experience in risk management, including enterprise and operational risk management programs and tools.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office productivity tools, e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, etc. Excel power users preferred.
- Solid change management skills.
- Solid presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to recognize and comprehend complex issues.
- Ability to build strong cross-functional business relationships.
- Ability to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to drive operational efficiency without compromising target state outcomes.
- Self-reliant and pro-active approach to work.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Spanish speaking an asset
