Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the Managed Portfolio Program / Investment & Advisory Solutions / Scotia Wealth Management in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Accountabilities
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Conduct daily review of trades to ensure they adhere to program policy regarding commissions.
- Conduct daily review of option trades to ensure they are within program policy.
- Complete regular supervision tasks including, monthly suitability review of Investment Policy Statements for Trust accounts, checks for US resident accounts, reviewing simple discretionary accounts and 10% early warning report.
- Ensuring continues the team operates efficiently by modifying or creating news tools and processes, including writing and maintaining VBA macros to automate repetitive tasks.
- Support the team’s oversight responsibilities by generating quarterly RFA spreadsheets, tracking all violations till closure and ensuring IPS approvals are within SLA.
- Document and track policy exceptions granted by Supervising Portfolio Manager(s).
- Provide portfolio construction support to Portfolio Managers, including assisting teams with creating and maintaining model portfolios.
- Coordinate resolution of issues identified during daily IPS approvals and quarterly portfolio reviews and escalate where applicable.
- Support border program initiatives as required.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education / Experience
- Post-secondary degree.
- Canadian Securities Course (CSC).
- Advanced experience writing VBA macros for Excel.
- Experience working effectively with discretionary licensed Wealth Advisors.
- Experience with portfolio management and trading systems (Charles River, Broadridge).
- Enrollment in CFA program (completion of CFA level 2 is preferred).
- Experience with Power BI preferred.
