Purpose

 

The CLO Deal Manager serves as the primary subject matter expert responsible for overseeing the end to end lifecycle of all CLO (Collateralized Loan Obligation) deals and related activities. This role ensures operational excellence, white glove service for high value clients, and effective coordination between Front Office teams and CLS Servicing. The CLO Deal Manager will have delegated authority to review and approve deal structures, provide specialized operational guidance to the CLO Banking team, and support servicing teams in managing complex deal requirements. This role is critical to scaling the CLO business, maintaining service quality, and ensuring operational consistency as deal volumes and complexity continue to grow.

Deal Management & Subject Matter Expertise

  • Oversee the complete lifecycle of CLO deals, from structuring and negotiation through execution, onboarding, and ongoing servicing.
  • Act as the central point of contact for all CLO deal related inquiries across Front Office, CLS Servicing, and internal control partners.
  • Provide expert advice on complex CLO structures, bespoke client arrangements, and unique operational requirements.
  • Approve CLO transactions within delegated authority to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with internal standards.


Relationship Management & Client Experience

 

  • Deliver “white glove” support for high value CLO clients, ensuring timely issue resolution and exceptional service standards.
  • Partner closely with CLO bankers to guide deal structuring and anticipate operational impacts on servicing teams and client experience.
  • Act as an escalation point for significant, time-sensitive client needs or atypical deal requests.


Operations Oversight & BAU Management

 

  • Oversee daily CLO operations, ensuring consistency, timeliness, and accuracy across processing activities.
  • Monitor key operational metrics (response time, turnaround, SLA adherence) to ensure service benchmarks are met or exceeded.
  • Support CLS Servicing teams in addressing complex or non-standard transactional requirements.


Process Improvement & Risk Management

 

  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, reduce operational risk, and improve efficiency across the CLO ecosystem.
  • Lead or participate in process design, documentation updates, and control enhancements related to CLO activities.
  • Ensure all deal and servicing processes remain compliant with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and risk frameworks.


Strategic Collaboration & Product Enablement

 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (Product, Technology, Risk, Legal, Compliance) to support new product launches and enhancements to meet evolving client needs.
  • Contribute business insights and frontline operational perspectives to change initiatives impacting CLO products or platforms.
  • Assist in defining operational readiness requirements for new structures, features, and deal variations.


Team Support & Knowledge Sharing

 

  • Partner with CLS Deal Team members to ensure alignment on deal execution standards and best practices.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Deal Analysts, supporting their development on CLO-specific complexities
  • Contribute to training materials, reference guides, and documentation to build broader team capability.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

  • Supports business units in the Americas and Europe 
  • Develop a solid working knowledge of LoanIQ and other platforms as used by team.
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to navigate nuances between Front Office and Operations stakeholders.
  • Assists the management team in various tasks such as resolution of exception items as well as project related work/assignment.
  • Ensure accuracy of work and apply due diligence as directed.
  • Potential to manage performance of direct reports and ensure their compliance with internal processes.

  • University undergraduate degree in finance or business-related studies or equivalent.
  • Knowledge and working experience in corporate lending services.
  • Strong understanding of CLO structures, leveraged finance, capital markets, or structured products.
  • Experience in deal management, operations, or client service within a financial institution.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex legal/structural documentation and translate it into operational requirements.
  • Proven experience driving process improvements and managing multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
