The Role
The Manager, International and Global Transaction Banking Communications - Global Corporate Affairs plays an important role in producing internal and external communications aligned with the strategic priorities of International Banking. The incumbent will be a key contributor to the overall success of the International Banking Communications team, supporting a variety of tactics and projects focused on the promotion and protection of the Scotiabank brand across its global footprint.
The ideal candidate will be a strong writer and project manager and will collaborate with various global partners to enhance communication across IB for a range of internal and external audiences, while fostering compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Supports the planning and implementation of robust communications tactics and processes aligned with the requirements and priorities of International Banking Communications:
- Drafting and executing integrated communications plans and processes.
- Producing exceptional communications materials in a timely manner (e.g., slide decks, articles, press releases, scripts, speaking remarks, videos, among others).
- Building consensus, identifying information gaps and ensuring consistency and proper signoffs as required.
- Supporting the development of quarterly materials, event management and email campaigns as required.
- Creating and updating high quality shared repositories, databases, file management and archiving.
- Monitoring, reporting and tracking efforts.
Contributes to senior executives’ positioning across internal and external social media channels with a clear understanding of the latest trends and best practices by:
- Understanding internal clients’ priorities and expected outcomes.
- Defining and executing a clear roadmap for delivery, measurement, and reporting.
- Creating compelling written content tailored to internal and external audiences.
- Exploring various formats and innovative approaches to building a top-notch social media presence.
Champions a client-centric culture based on deepening client relationships and leveraging broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge by:
- Maintaining high levels of client service with the IB Communications team and key corporate partners.
- Acting as point of contact for queries from peers in-country or in Canada and channeling those as appropriate, ensuring a seamless delivery of projects.
- Contributes to the IB Communications team by actively building trust and effective working relationships with internal partners, providing advice to leaders, coaching team members and facilitating a culture of open and honest communication within the team.
- Identifies opportunities for improvement and proposes solutions to maximize productivity and efficiency.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Dimensions
- The incumbent’s responsibilities contribute towards effective communications with internal and external audiences including media, employees and the general public across International Banking.
- The overall quality of the deliverables, and support provided to IB Communications and other internal partners in Canada and IB countries can have a significant impact on the Bank’s image among all stakeholder groups.
- Specific responsibilities are largely driven by International Banking business strategy and priorities, by the business and news cycle, as well as by the Bank’s position on various stakeholder and regulatory issues.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if:
- Fluency in Spanish/English (oral and written)
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, among other related fields or equivalent experience.
- 4-6 years’ experience in corporate communications or related industry communications.
- Proven track record of effective communication via print, web, visual media or emerging communication platforms.
- Strong media relations experience is highly preferred.
- Experience with generating content and managing executive accounts in internal or external social media to effectively drive audience engagement.
- Excellent knowledge of business-related software such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc. is essential. Desktop publishing, web design or video experience is an asset.
- Flexible and willing to take on new challenges and solve problems.
- Good interpersonal, collaboration and relationship building skills, with a can-do spirit.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with meticulous attention to detail and ability to balance multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Fluency in a third language (Portuguese/French) can be an asset.
Working Conditions
- Hybrid work as established by Global Corporate Affairs. Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
- Due to the nature of the role, this position requires the incumbent to work well under pressure and respond quickly to changing priorities and short deadlines.
- There are extended periods of computer use in preparation of communications. Hours of work may exceed standard working hours during peak periods.
