We are looking for a Manager, International Technology Integrations & Modernization Projects to join our team to help us delivering complex and large technology programs in International Banking. This is an exciting opportunity to start with us on a challenging journey in Scotiabank

 

As Manager of the team, you will participate and be accountable in all aspects for delivering complex Control, Design, Modernization and Transformation programs/projects across international banking. You will steer a highly skilled professional technology team, and lead large cross-functional and cross-country teams, ensuring initiatives are implemented according to technology standards and architecture, are on time and within budget and aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives.

What will you do?

 

Risk Management

  • Manage Risk by owning the “IT Risk Path to Green” program
  • Assess operational, reputational, financial, regulatory & compliance and other risks arising from the challenges and complexities that technological integrations represent and work with corresponding stakeholders to mitigate these within Bank’s risk appetite.
  • Ensures the adequacy, adherence and effectiveness of technological solutions implemented to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
  • Ensure a consistent project risk management and delivery practice across all activities in IB.

Project/Program Management

  • Delivery of large and complex technology programs across International Banking, ensuring these are implemented on time and within budget. Projects often address technology solutions to problems or opportunities which are unprecedented
  • Ensures project status is accurately depicted and that major execution risks or issues are identified and addressed on a timely basis. This includes:
  • Balanced consideration of business, technical and application architectural standards and emerging solutions
  • Articulation of the key project risks and risk-mitigation plan to ensure that the project is delivered with quality, on time and on budget
  • Management of the delivery process, leading the development, infrastructure, networking, testing teams in addition to coordination with business, and operations.
  • Proactively identify key project issues with the potential to impact project objectives and lead the project team in developing creative/alternative solutions to mitigate the risk and satisfactorily address the issues in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Ongoing communication of project status, completing the monthly Project Status Reports and escalating issues to the Business Sponsor, IT&S Sponsor, the Head, or EVP, IT&S as required. Ensure the documentation and archiving of project activities, deliverables, tools and finders for use in future projects.

Operational

  • Culture of Continuous Improvement & Service Optimization
  • Manage and support Inter-company rates, cost allocation model and Transfer Pricing
  • Work closely with Enterprise Architecture, Finance, Development, Testing, EPMO and Business partners in creating a framework for enterprise delivery that drives performance.
  • Monitor and control projects and programs, understanding current state and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Drive ongoing discussions relative to Lessons Learned and the sharing of best practices.
  • Define and implement a performance framework across to enable analysis and insights on effectiveness, productivity and quality of Project and Program Deliverables

  • Simultaneous initiatives with sizable execution budgets and complexity each
  • Significant number of Customers impacted by these initiatives
  • Delivery initiatives require the coordination of multiple stakeholders in many geographies
  • Work with high level of autonomy

 

What do you need to succeed?

 

  • Comprehensive business knowledge (understanding of vision, financial objectives, how business functions and core processes interact, the strategic importance of projects, how they relate to Scotiabank’s goals, how projects interact, impact of change and/or delays in projects)
  • Process knowledge (scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, risk management, systems design, change management, release management)
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated experience managing and collaborating in large projects including experience in project finance, budgeting & forecasts.
  •  
  • Proven IT experience with deep expertise in both the strategy and business needs of banking as well as technology
  • Proven IT experience with deep understanding on Technology Risk Management concepts including but not limited to Software Currency, Availability, Business Disaster Recovery, Third Party Risk Management and Change Management, Regulatory Obligations, Assets Classifications
  • Possess a solid understanding of both IT Risk KPIs and Project Management KPIs
  • Must have exceptional communication skills (verbal/written/presentation) in both Spanish & English plus the ability to communicate up, down and across the organization with a skill in being able to translate strategic intent into action, facilitate leadership session and articulate complex ideas to various audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills in order to be able to positively work with demands from multilevel stakeholders and influencing decisions.
  • Possess a deep expertise in supporting methodologies (Software Development Lifecycle - SDLC, Quality Assurance - QA, Enterprise Architecture - EA,Architecture and Service Oriented Architecture - SOA) is desired.
  • Understanding of complex, leading-edge technology and how this can be used to support business processes
  • Experience managing multidimensional projects from concept to completion within a matrix environment across various functions and cultures
  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in a Technology-related engineering field.
  • PMP designation or Project Management certification are an asset.
  • Possess extensive experience with Executive Presentations using MS Office tools
