Contributes to the overall success of the Corporate Security department ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of Strategic Services business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted comply with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

 

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

 

Governance and policy development for the department, including but not limited to the following: 

  • Assisting in the implementation and delivery of key Regulatory Compliance risk and control programs within the 1st line.
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of Corporate Security policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Conducting gap analyses and assisting in remediation efforts to ensure compliance with regulatory and operational risk frameworks.
  • Providing training and support during change management cycles.

Compliance and Risk pillar activities, including: 

  • Supporting internal control activities and risk programs (e.g., CRCA, RCSA, Scenario Analysis).
  • Coordinating with Audit and assisting in issue tracking and resolution.
  • Identifying control gaps and supporting remediation efforts.
  • Preparing materials for regulatory compliance meetings and contributing to oversight reporting.
  • Managing data quality issue updates, including coordinating with business partners, verifying records, and preparing reports to support informed decision-making.

Knowledge Management, Change Management and Communications: 

  • Supporting communication strategies and sharing global best practices.
  • Disseminating key messages and updates across the department.
  • Acting as a point of contact for inquiries related to governance, strategy, and departmental policies.
  • Assisting in the development of content for corporate events and initiatives.
  • Leading training and awareness initiatives. 

Data and Information Management:

  • Creating dashboards and visualizations using tools like Tableau, Python, and Excel to support strategic insights and decision-making.
  • Ensuring audit readiness by verifying documentation and preparing organized submissions for regulatory bodies.
  • Maintaining document accuracy and completeness to support operational efficiency and compliance

Project Management: 

  • Based on departmental objectives, define the scope of assigned projects in collaboration with senior management, and ensure that associated deliverables are completed within prescribed timeframes. 
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and support other strategic priorities, as assigned. 
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of Banking/Security experience; exposure to the areas of Governance & Policy, Project Management, and Communications.
  • Strong writer and editor with proven and demonstrated writing and editing skills.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on results and efficiency.
  • Knowledge in working with databases.
  • Experience in data visualization and analytics, including building dashboards in Tableau and using Python and Excel for data cleaning and transformation.
  • Advance Knowledge in MS Office Suite.
  • Spanish is an asset.
