Purpose


This position will assist the Senior Manager, Global Sanctions Governance and Reporting to manage the Global Sanctions Issues Management related functions as well as sanctions reporting. The incumbent will track Global Sanctions related issues and prepares status reports pursuant to the relevant regulatory, audit, Monitoring and Testing (M&T), and self-identified issue findings. This position will effectively contribute to the overall success of Financial Crimes Risk Management (FCRM) Global Sanctions globally by ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. All activities will be conducted in accordance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

Key Accountabilities

 

The incumbent will support Senior Manager, Global Sanctions Governance and Reporting and oversee the Global Sanctions Issues Management related functions, which include, but are not limited to: 

  • Responsible for tracking Global Sanctions related issues and preparing status reports pursuant to the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and/or other relevant regulatory,  audit, Monitoring and Testing (M&T), and self-identified issue findings
  • Responsible for providing reporting on issue status, milestones, dependencies, and risks to executive management
  • Support Sanctions compliance management to develop action plans and track initiatives concerning the status, risks, and issues to executive management
  • Responsible for supporting the development and enhancement of sanctions reporting and reporting into various fora
  • Participate in and collaborate with working groups and in Committees groups that are wholly or partially operated by Global Sanctions 
  • Operates independently within guidelines, policies, directives and established precedence
  • Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
  • Develops, manages, and implements a risk-based approach and culture 
  • Ensures the adherence to the day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect relevant frameworks, guidelines, and professional conduct
  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge 
  • Champions a high performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment. 
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
     

 

Experience / Education:

 

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years in regulatory issue remediation, governance reporting, program management, or other related function in financial services
  • Strong communications, analytical, organizational, project management, and planning skills
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Project or other project management and reporting tools
  • Knowledge of business, products, operations, systems, and organization for financial services sector
     

This is a temporary role for 13 months.
