As the Manager, Global Pension & Savings Plans, you will be responsible for the delivery of the policy-related functions – design, implementation, compliance, communication and administration – associated with the development, review, revisions and maintenance of the Bank’s new and existing North American defined benefit and defined contribution pension programs.


Key Accountabilities


  • Manage the delivery activities and resources associated with the development, review, revision and maintenance of the benefits provided under new and existing retirement programs (including supplemental/executive retirement arrangements) and savings plans in Canada and the U.S., consistent with business and total rewards objectives and with external market and regulatory standards.
  • Support the approval activities and manage the annual plan statement activities and resources as well as any activities associated with the creation and revision of new and existing retirement programs and savings plans.
  • Manage the activities and resources associated with the design, delivery and maintenance of effective retirement and savings program communication within a total rewards framework, consistent with the developing Bank employment brand and reflecting evolving best practice. Internal communication of pension and benefit programs, products and procedures must be developed to align employee behaviour with the Bank’s goals, values and strategies.
  • Reponsible for the people management activities associated with managing the Plan Administration team (3 direct reports).
  • Assist with the development of approaches and processes for the administration of pension and savings plans, and work closely with HR Shared Services with the ongoing maintenance of pension and savings plan administration.
  • Assist with the preparation of any pension-related material for the Annual General Meeting; respond to requests from Bank executives, the Staff Ombuds Office and management; coordinate responses – and assist as required in responding – to plan member complaints.




  • 5+ years of experience in directing the activities and resources (internal and external) associated with the design, implementation, communication and administration functions of multi-jurisdictional defined benefit and defined contribution retirement and savings programs.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian federal/provincial and US pension legislation and tax legislation.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian and U.S. pension environment, including competitor/industry/regulator pension and savings plans practices, with the ability to maintain an industry network.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills and ability to perform in-depth analysis.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Excel and Word)
  • CEBS is an asset
  • University degree in mathematics, actuarial science or similar area
