Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of Global Transaction Banking by ensuring the effective execution and delivery of individual goals, initiatives, and plans in support of the organization’s global business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities are conducted in full compliance with applicable governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
As Manager, Global Payment Platforms (Product Owner), accountable for enabling portfolio teams to make value‑based, data‑driven decisions aligned to the strategic vision and roadmap of Scotiabank’s Global Payment Platforms. Partners closely with Portfolio Leads, Product Owners, Agile delivery teams, and cross‑enterprise stakeholders to ensure a clear, transparent, and holistic understanding of value, priority, impact, and strategic alignment across all initiatives.
Drives consistency and visibility in how work is requested, prioritized, accepted, and ultimately delivered, ensuring outcomes support enterprise objectives, optimize customer and business value, and advance the Payments platform strategy globally.
What You’ll Do:
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Direct the development, approval, and execution of large-scale strategic initiatives to support GTB’s strategic plans and objectives by:
- Supporting the definition of enterprise business model, strategy, benefit and experience for Global Payment Platforms
- Working closely with team members in clearly defining and articulating business concepts, outcomes, and key success metrics for each project/initiative
- Working closely with team members and business partners to define and recommend Minimum Viable Product (MVP) schedules
- Working closely with the Senior Manager and/or Director to create the Product Backlog and maintaining it in a good prioritized shape with clearly defined items ready for development
- Developing and managing the project execution plan and clearly communicating expectations and goals to all team members and stakeholders
- Leading the development and ongoing tracking/reporting of business and delivery KPIs/metrics (e.g. project dashboards), including communication of project status, completing monthly status reports and escalating issues, as required, to the Senior Manager and/or Director
- Collaborates with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and core team members to shape payments strategies, define executable MVPs, system and process requirements, customer oriented with specific tactics to address opportunities and barriers by:
- Engaging with internal stakeholders and partners to seek understanding and exchange ideas, ensuring communication is positioned in terms that are easy to understand by a diverse group
- Ensuring awareness of market and trends in the business environment, using research and available analysis to help inform ideas
- Supporting cross-functional teams to identify pain points in the current state journeys and map out the desired future state
- Overseeing/directing the documentation of current and proposed process flows
- Drive change management efforts within Global Payment Platforms by:
- Leading with an end-to-end mindset, where business, technology and operations are all considered when making decisions that drive change
- Building strong relationships with stakeholders to accelerate and support efficiencies where possible, to increase confidence in the core project team driven outcomes
- Preparing workflows/procedures to ensure new functions/processes are integrated into the operational environment
- Ensuring cross-departmental socialization on program status, as well as highlighting key risks and major constraints
- Communicating ideas clearly, concisely and effectively when meeting with broader audiences
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

What You'll Bring:
- 3–5 years of experience managing complex business and technology initiatives or projects.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Strong understanding of the product lifecycle and Agile product development methodologies.
- Hands‑on experience working within an Agile environment and partnering closely with software development teams.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, business‑friendly language.
- Proven experience serving as a trusted and effective liaison between business stakeholders and technology teams.
- Working knowledge of emerging technologies and modern Agile/product development practices, with a strong commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and perform effectively under time pressure to meet deadlines and resolve issues promptly.
- Strong conflict resolution, negotiation, and influencing skills, enabling productive collaboration across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Formal Agile certifications such as CSPO, CSM, or related credentials considered a strong asset.
- Working knowledge of payment operations, including the wires ecosystem and SWIFT ISO 20022 standards.
