The Manager contributes to the overall success of the Global ML/TF Risk Detection program, ensuring specific plans and initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.

The Manager is responsible for supporting the program by providing advanced data analysis, reporting, and project support. This role combines technical expertise in data visualization and dashboard development with strong business and risk detection expertise to deliver actionable insights and support strategic decision‑making.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

 

  • Contribute ongoing improvements to the Enterprise ML/TF Program across all applicable business units.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of AML controls and solutions to detect and report money laundering and terrorist financing risks.
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders across the organization to ensure alignment and effective communication.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day‑to‑day activities and decisions.
  • Contribute to cross‑business and cross‑functional teamwork by demonstrating collaboration and challenging behaviors that are not consistent with Scotiabank’s diversity policy and/or the best interests of the business and its clients.
  • Leverage advanced analytical techniques to analyze and solve challenges, translating complex data sets into actionable insights for leadership and the AML program team.
  • Develop high‑impact business requirement documents and dashboards (e.g., Power BI) by gathering requirements, identifying gaps, and translating needs into detailed project plans while ensuring adherence to standards and methodologies.
  • Prepare management reports and status updates to support decision‑making and meet leadership requirements.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day‑to‑day activities and decisions.

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We’d love to work with you if you have experience with:

 

  • A university degree in Business, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 2 years of experience, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven experience working with large, complex datasets from multiple sources to support data analysis, process automation, and reporting.
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to draw logical conclusions, even with limited data.
  • Expert‑level proficiency in MS Excel (including VBA) and Power BI, with comprehensive knowledge of the full MS Office suite.
  • Strong understanding of data mining techniques and data visualization principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to ensure alignment and buy‑in from stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated urgency and adaptability in dynamic environments.
  • Proficiency in using research and data to identify trends and evaluate outcomes.
  • A self‑starter mindset with strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • A customer‑centric mindset, focused on enhancing experience and reducing effort.
  • A professional, energetic, and enthusiastic approach to work.
  • Proven ability to thrive in high‑pressure, fast‑paced environments.
  • Strong multitasking and prioritization skills to manage competing demands effectively.
  • In‑depth understanding of AML programs, pillars, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience in risk detection and management within the banking or financial services industry.
  • Fluency in English; Spanish fluency is considered an asset.
