The role:
Contributes to the overall success of the SCI (Scotia Capital Inc.) Regulatory Reporting team in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Prepare, analyze and/or review daily regulatory capital calculations to ensure adequate Risk Adjusted Capital in accordance with CIRO regulatory requirements.
- Prepare, analyze and/or review various regulatory filings – including regulatory MFR schedules and statements for CIRO.
- Prepare, analyze and/or review various internal management reporting deliverables.
- Provide coverage during absences and cross-training to ensure key deliverables are covered for the team
- Provide support by responding to ad-hoc requests for data, statistics, and information from internal stakeholders. Collaborate with team members to gather, analyze, and present data to address business needs.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders on an ad-hoc basis around the delivery of special projects in support of departmental objectives, GBM Finance initiatives or regulatory requirements on behalf of the broker/dealer.
- Create and enhance reporting templates to meet regulatory and corporate standards while ensuring fulsome up to date written procedures.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:
- Post-secondary degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
- CSC, CPA and/or CFA designation an asset.
- 5+ years of related Financial Industry experience.
- Accounting knowledge related to general ledger flows and transactional data.
- An in-depth understanding of various types of securities/transactions (fixed income, equity, money market, derivatives, etc).
- Strong knowledge of CIRO regulatory reporting requirements and accounting procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong analytical / problem solving skills are necessary.
- Ability to be highly organized, to work well under pressure, and to handle multiple tasks within tight time constraints.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Working knowledge of Broadridge and PeopleSoft an asset.
