Job Purpose

Canadian Banking Finance is a divisional finance function providing financial management and analytical insight to Canadian Banking Executive Management, Business Line Management in Retail, Automotive Lending, Wealth Management, Small Business and Commercial Banking areas.

 

The Manager will be a key member of the Credit Cards & Unsecured Lending Finance team with reporting to the Director, CCUL Finance. The incumbent will be responsible for providing accurate, comprehensive and timely preparation of financial analysis to support the Credit Cards & Unsecured Lending Profit Plan, Forecasts, and providing ongoing P&L and profitability review.  This includes supporting Director to develop and enhance the financial intelligence capabilities around planning and forecasting, financial analysis, financial modelling, and strategic planning. The incumbent will also be involved in the review and analysis of business case proposals, post implementation review, and adhoc review on strategic initiatives.

 

A successful candidate will be a dynamic and organized self-starter who is comfortable with ambiguity, detail-oriented, and be able to work effectively in a fast paced environment.

 

Key Accountabilities

 

  1. Financial Reporting & Analysis

 

  • Generate detailed and timely profitability analyses on CCUL Portfolio in support of Canadian Banking Executive Management to improve the Bank’s financial results.
  • Assist in the information gathering process, maintain financial models for analysis and forecasting of key business drivers, and recommend solutions when issues are identified.
  • Act as a subject matter expert of CCUL profitability reporting and ensure the reports are accurate, value-added, and insightful.
  • Work independently to produce high quality and professional presentations quickly and efficiently within tight timelines. Support ad hoc analysis requests as required.
  • Document end-to-end reporting process, including internal controls and information validation. Assist in the identification and execution of opportunities to automate and streamline processes and reporting.
  • Participate in the ongoing financial review and analysis of CCUL business case pool spending and pipeline projects.

 

2. Execute End to End Reporting Process

 

Identify, prioritize, analyze, remediate, and escalate data and reporting issues.

  • Participate in the information validation process: report generation, input/report validation, and reasonability analysis.
  • Responsible for the timely delivery of monthly and quarterly updates, quarterly forecast, and annual profit plan.

 

3. Relationship Management

 

  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships with CCUL product group, Retail Analytics Team, Global Operations, GRM, and AP&P.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial updates and forecasts and effectively manage their interests and inputs.
  • Actively share report design knowledge, flow of information and experience to enhance the development of all team members.

 

Functional Competencies

  • Knowledgeable in the CCUL business, analytics and financial forecasting as well as reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify and evaluate unusual numbers and trends.
  • Thorough understanding of financial and management accounting principles.
  • Strong knowledge of the banking industry and the Canadian Banking Division.
  • Ability to multi-task and deliver high quality results under very tight deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills and strong attention to detail.

 

Educational/Work Experience

  • Post-secondary degree in Finance or Accounting with a minimum of 3 – 5 years of relevant experience.  An MBA or professional designation is preferred.
