Purpose

Reporting to the Senior Manager, GBM Expense Management Forecasting & Analysis, the Manager, GBM Financial Planning & Analysis is part of a team responsible for providing value-added analytical and strategic support on expenses to GBM’s business lines, regions and senior management to facilitate the achievement of GBM’s expense targets. The GBM Expense team is the primary point of contact between Global Finance and GBM’s business lines with respect to expense management and control. The position has a business partner role and elevates analytical output to deliver value added analysis and insights to internal clients as well as to support the main bank’s process like Strategic Plan, Forecast, quarter and month end reporting, etc.

 

Is This Role Right for You? In this role, you will:

  • Financial Forecasting and Planning – Responsible for the processes and deliverables related to the planning and forecasting of GBM expenses. This includes preparing and updating financial plans and forecasts, stress tests, business and project pipelines, and other forward-looking financial outlooks, ensuring accuracy and completeness of forecast in the planning system, and identifying issues and providing commentary related to financial results and/or forecast.
  • Strategic Partner to Business Lines, Regional Finance Teams & EO – Acts as a liaison with GBM’s business lines, regional finance teams, and Corporate Functions Finance teams in expense-related matters by providing granular expense analysis and transparency. Assists Senior Manager in working with business partners to drive more consistent and collaborative practices and increased transparency.
  • Expense Controls & Process – Participates in the development and communication of expense-related policies, guidelines and standards for GBM.
  • Ad Hoc Requests – Supports ad hoc requests from Executive Management, auditors and other stakeholders as required. Provide analytical support including analysis and data related to sub-business lines and regions.
  • Team Environment – Contributes to an environment in which the team works together to produce tailored and value-added strategic analysis while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls.

 

Do You Have the Skills?

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics or Business Administration, and/or pursing Chartered Professional Accountant or Chartered Financial Analyst designation or comparable experience
  • Knowledge of the Bank’s financial reporting systems such as EGL, OBI and Hyperion strongly desired
  • Excellent analytical skills and excel skills including financial modelling
  • Advanced presentation and communication skills and proven ability to provide insightful and influential analysis to Senior Management
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment under tight deadlines, in some cases on special projects and tasks requiring creative analysis and solutions
  • Strong business analysis and project management skills with the ability to review and complete financial analyses within tight deadlines
