The Manager contributes to the overall success of the Executive Compensation team and Global Rewards department ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the Bank’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, and internal policies and procedures.

 

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Analysis - Executive Compensation, the Manager, Executive Compensation and Governance directly supports the Executive Compensation team, with responsibilities including but not limited to, collecting and reporting on risk and conduct-related incidents, producing financial forecasts and tracking incentive pay throughout the year, supporting year-end compensation activities, making compensation recommendations for new hires, promotions and transfers at the executive level, and preparing the annual management proxy circular. This role will independently manage assigned workstreams while partnering to support broader team priorities, deliverables, and projects. This position requires an individual with a high degree of autonomy and a broad understanding of the financial industry and incentive compensation cycle.

  • Manage the end-to-end process to collect risk and conduct-related incidents from various business functions, including preparation of communication materials, submission timelines, initiating follow-ups, and ensuring all necessary information is collected and disseminated according to the established process.
  • Identifie risk and conduct-related governance and regulatory developments and emerging practices that may impact the Bank globally or in key countries/regions, and assesses the Bank’s compliance or areas requiring change.
  • Prepare materials to support Compensation Review Committee (CRC) meetings.
  • Manage the end-to-end process to identify roles considered material to the Bank, updates the Material Risk Impact employees (MRIs) list on a regular basis, manages year-end activities related to the MRIs and prepares and delivers annual communication to identified employees.
  • Assist with managing the Bank’s executive compensation programs including equity-based compensation with vesting conditions.
  • Prepare compensation accruals on a regular basis, collaborating with both the Finance and Reporting teams to receive accurate inputs to validate and reconcile the data.
  • Participate in the preparation of the annual Management Proxy Circular, including tabular data.
  • Support the year-end compensation planning process and reporting.
  • Prepare compensation recommendations for new hires, promotions, transfers, and others if required.
  • Support ad hoc requests including internal equity and market competitiveness analysis and compensation recommendations.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of the respective areas in accordance with ScotiaBond Values, the Code of Conduct and other corporate policies.

  • Completion of an undergraduate University degree
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Executive Compensation and related governance and compliance
  • Financial industry expertise is an asset
  • Background in a large multinational company
  • Prior experience with compensation/executive compensation
  • High degree of professional ethics and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to adapt to frequently changing priorities and identify critical paths for resolution
  • Inquisitive mindset; eager to learn and acquire knowledge
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint)
