Purpose:

 

The Manager will be responsible for supporting Exchange Traded Derivatives (ETD) globally, ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations and internal policies and procedures.

 

The ETD operations team is responsible for supporting the clearing and settlement of global futures and options on futures traded by the various business lines within Scotiabank.  The main objective is maintaining the official clearing book of record for futures products and supporting the full trade life cycle.  
 

Responsibilities include: Trade clearing, Trade, position, and cash reconciliation, Settlements, Collateral management, Regulatory Reporting. 

 

What you'll do:

 

  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Pro-actively identify, organize and implement changes positively affecting the efficiency, productivity and risk control of the unit’s operations through:
    • Regular review of operational workflows to identify control requirements or redundancies, best practices, and opportunities for technological efficiencies. 
    • Ensuring the department’s standard operating procedures and static data is documented, accessible, reviewed and updated on a regular basis. 
  • Motivate staff to increase individual performances, implement training schedules, engineer and distribute operational workflow fairly by: 
    • Organizing / assigning team tasks to best meet business objectives and customer service expectations
    • Monitoring work in progress / daily transaction volumes via various management information and control reports to ensure team workloads are fairly distributed
    • Identifying key contributors to team success and support them through coaching and mentoring  
  • Contributes to the implementation of technology solutions to improve operations support by:  
    • Providing feedback and support for User Acceptance Testing activities for ongoing system enhancement or implementation of new systems.
    • Supporting trouble shooting activities related to unexpected, unplanned system production issues when required.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct. 

 

What you'll bring:

 

  • 4 years minimum Exchange Traded Derivatives operations experience (or similar capital markets asset class) – with a global perspective preferred
  • Strong experience with at least one of the major asset platforms from a “Books and Records” perspective – GMI, RISC, XTP, ADP, Broadridge, etc.
  • Knowledge of Derivative Exchange clearing applications such as CME Group’s FEC, ICE’s ECS/FEC, CDCC TMS & SOLA – or equivalent systems
  • Incumbent would be expected to have in-depth knowledge of the functions and processes the team uses in the performance of its assigned responsibilities and of the controls in place to ensure appropriate risk and regulatory compliance.


Work Arrangement: 

 

This position is currently a Hybrid role, with the expectation that you will work two days a week in the office. Please note that this is subject to change based on the needs of the business. #LI-Hybrid
