The Accounting Policy & Procedures Group is responsible for supporting the Bank’s hedge accounting activities in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). The Senior Analyst contributes to the successful implementation, monitoring, and reporting of hedge accounting strategies that help mitigate earnings volatility and support the Bank's overall financial objectives.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Partner with Treasury, Front Office, and business stakeholders to assess hedge accounting eligibility, establish hedging strategies, and prepare required documentation in accordance with IFRS guidelines.
  • Monitor hedge relationships on an ongoing basis to ensure compliance with hedge accounting requirements and maintain effectiveness throughout the hedge lifecycle.
  • Validate the ongoing existence and activity of hedging instruments and hedged items through regular communication with business partners across the Bank.
  • Support the month-end close process by reconciling, analyzing, and communicating hedge accounting results to Treasury and other key stakeholders.
  • Contribute to quarterly and annual financial reporting and disclosures, while providing ad hoc analysis and reporting support as required.
  • Stay current on accounting and regulatory developments, industry trends, and best practices related to hedge accounting and financial instruments.
  • Participate in system enhancements, process improvement initiatives, and projects that improve operational efficiency and reporting accuracy.

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?  We’d love to work with you if you have:  

  • A post-secondary degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience within the financial services industry.
  • Strong knowledge of financial markets, financial instruments, and derivative products.
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) or progress toward completion is considered an asset; CFA designation or candidacy is an advantage.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across business lines and support functions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with PeopleSoft, EGL, OBI, Peak, or similar trading and financial systems is considered an asset.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented mindset with a strong commitment to continuous improvement and delivering high-quality results.
