About the Manager, Data Analytics

The Manager, Data Analytics contributes to the overall success of the Applied Analytics team at the Digital Factory in Canada. You will ensure that specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. You will ensure that all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

You are responsible for providing reporting and insights through the use of analytical, statistical and visualization techniques.  You will work closely with internal stakeholders and data stewarts to define data elements and turn data into critical customer insights and knowledge that can be used to make sound organizational decisions within the Canadian Digital Bank. In this role, you will require a combination of business focus, strong analytical and problem solving skills, and programming knowledge to quickly draw insights from data in order to support Strategies for Canadian Digital Bank.

 

Accountabilities:

  • You will be a champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • You will collaborate with business partners and other stakeholders and identify opportunities to develop metrics to measure initiatives and provide ongoing tracking and monitoring of performance.  Prepare detailed documentation to outline data sources, elements and metrics used and developed
  • You will develop data elements metrics and indicators to provide insights and drive business value  
  • You will investigate and become an expert in available data sources of data, transform and determine how they can be interpreted for analysis
  • You will collaborate with data scientists, data engineers and operational teams to implement quality controls and automate data feeds and report generation.
  • You will present results to business line stakeholders and help implement real data-driven changes
  • You should understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • You will actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
  • You will champion a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team

 

Required Skills:

  • University education in Business, Computer Sciences, Electrical/Computer/Software Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent experience.
  • Experience cleaning, transforming and visualizing large data sets working with various data formats (e.g. unstructured logs, XML, JSON, flat files, SAS, CSV)
  • Experience with UNIX tools and shell scripting
  • Solid knowledge of Data Analysis or manipulation tools for working with data (e.g., SQL, DB2, MySQL, Python, R)
  • Knowledge of banking products and reporting systems are an asset (including finance systems, Enterprise Data Warehouse and Enterprise Data Lake)
  • Experience using and implementing visualization tools like D3, Tableau or Qlikview
