The Manager, Credit Documentation plays a key role in the centralized Credit Documentation Team, responsible for preparing, reviewing, and validating complex credit documentation for specialized portfolios including NAC, Roynat, Real Estate Banking (REB), and Auto Finance. This role ensures documentation is accurate, compliant, and aligned with internal policies and regulatory standards. The Manager, Credit Documentation also acts as a subject matter expert and mentor to junior team members, contributing to quality assurance and process improvement initiatives.

 

Accountabilities:

 

Complex Documentation Preparation & Review

  • Draft, validate, and finalize Credit Facility Agreements (CFAs), amending letters, default letters, and related documentation for complex and specialized portfolios.
  • Ensure documentation reflects credit approvals and complies with legal, regulatory, and internal policy requirements.

 

Subject Matter Expertise

  • Serve as a go-to resource for documentation related to NAC, Roynat, REB, and Auto portfolios.
  • Provide guidance and support to Credit Documentation Specialists on complex documentation scenarios.

 

Quality Assurance & Risk Management

  • Conduct advanced quality checks and contribute to the development of QA protocols.
  • Identify and escalate documentation risks or inconsistencies to the Director or Legal as appropriate.

 

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Liaise with Relationship Managers, Credit Adjudication, Legal, and Risk teams to resolve complex documentation issues.
  • Support the Director in managing stakeholder expectations and ensuring timely delivery of documentation.

 

Process Optimization

  • Recommend and implement improvements to documentation workflows, templates, and standards.
  • Participate in initiatives related to documentation modernization and regulatory updates.

Risk Awareness

  • Understand and apply the Bank’s risk appetite and compliance frameworks in daily work.
  • Maintain awareness of regulatory changes impacting credit documentation.
  • Uses his/her in-depth knowledge about Canadian Commercial Banking and GRM; as well as applicable compliance and regulatory requirements, to ensure all documentation is prepared in accordance with internal policies, legal standards, and regulatory requirements.

        

Dimensions:

  • Supports high-complexity credit documentation across specialized portfolios with elevated risk and structural intricacies.
  • Acts as a mentor and informal leader within a team of 12–15 documentation professionals.
  • Contributes to documentation accuracy metrics and quality assurance reporting.
  • Collaborates with Legal and Risk to ensure documentation templates reflect current regulatory and credit requirements.
  • May represent the team in cross-functional working groups or pilot projects..
  • Participates in team-wide initiatives related to documentation modernization and process optimization.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders including Legal, Risk, Credit Adjudication, and Relationship Management.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, or related field.

 

Experience:

  • 2-4 years of experience in commercial banking, legal documentation, or credit operations, with exposure to complex credit structures.
  • In-depth knowledge of credit products, legal terminology, and regulatory frameworks, particularly in NAC, Roynat, REB, and Auto portfolios.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management systems.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and support junior team members.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. 
  • Limited domestic travel may be required
