The role:

 

The team oversees planning, forecasting and analysis of the operating expenses for all bank support functions. The Manager will primarily support the Corporate Functions Reporting & Continuous Improvement team but will work closely with each member of the Corporate Functions Finance team to produce annual budgets and business line allocations, provide financial analysis and control as well as management reporting.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:  

 

  • Leadership role in the completion of the monthly/quarterly reporting processes, including: Prepare monthly management reports, completion of monthly/quarterly expense reasonability, variance analysis and commentary 
  • Work closely with all Corporate Function members to deliver the consolidated annual budget for Corporate Functions.
  • Liaise with budget contacts to gather information supporting the budget submissions, including compiling, researching and consolidating statistical information for use in the analysis of budget submissions and responding to requests for supporting details.
  • Develop and maintain monthly reporting, forecasting, budgeting and analysis, highlight discussion points for use during meetings with senior management and follow up on action items to ensure they are reflected in the budget summaries and packages.
  • Validate information sources, develop and maintain controls to improve data integrity and completeness, and create templates/processes to automate and simplify tasks.
  • Provide suggestions for enhancing/optimizing use of the bank planning forecast processes, templates and systems, e.g. GIST and Hyperion.
  • Produce ad-hoc reports to support the consolidation and analysis of overall Corporate Functions monthly/quarterly reporting and budgets.
  • Lead Corporate Functions partners to develop/refine/maintain business line allocation methodologies, provide analysis on impact of any changes and communicate the changes to the business lines.
  • Work closely with all team members to complete the monthly/quarterly reporting processes, including:
    o    Compile monthly staffing reports including variance analysis.
    o    Prepare quarterly staffing variance analysis; identify the impact of transfers and initiatives.
    o    Support monthly/quarterly expense dashboard, reasonability, variance analysis and commentary.
    o    Prepare monthly management reports for the Corporate Functions.
    o    Ad hoc reporting for Finance and Corporate Functions

 

Relationship Management

 

  • Develop and sustain strategic relationships with key contacts, business partners and stakeholders (Function Senior management, other Corporate Functions Finance teams, BL Finance) to deliver on mandate and provide value-added analysis and insight. 
  • Subject matter expert partnering with the functions to provide analysis and support to enable them to make informed decisions pertaining to the impact of budget planning, forecasting and potential cost reduction activities, as well as the ongoing financial management of their business' operations. 
  • Act as a change agent, supporting the expense management mandate to key partners and stakeholders. 

 

 Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have: 

 

  • University degree in Accounting or Finance or similar discipline 
  • Completion or working towards CA, CPA, MBA or equivalent professional designation 
  • 5 + years of relevant experience 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the perspective of continually seeking opportunities for improvement 
  • Results-oriented Excellent analytical and technical skills.  Must be able to manage and interpret large amounts of data, and use sound judgement in analysis, interpretation, and presentation of findings
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work, using strong verbal and written communication skills to manage expectations of multiple direct supervisors/stakeholders. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment with peers and superiors across organizational lines.  
  • Support a high-performance environment and pursue effective and efficient operations 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. 
  • Deep knowledge of visualization tools (Power Bl, Alteryx and other automation tools) is considered an asset. 
  • Knowledge of EGL, OBI, Hyperion and SmartView
