The Manager – Climate Risk Oversight will be part of the ESG Risk team in Global Risk Management reporting to the Senior Manager – Climate Risk Oversight. The Manager will work with the Senior Manager and the team to ensure that the Bank’s exposure to climate risk is consistent with its risk appetite. This will be achieved by supporting the Senior Manager in the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the climate risk/net zero program under credit risk encompassing risk oversight & challenge, execution, communication, engagement, and education.
The Manager is expected to be knowledgeable on climate change risk methodologies and standards insofar as they are relevant for the financial services industry. They will also be expected to be familiar with regulatory expectations including disclosure requirements and developing industry standards.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Maintain and expand the climate risk due diligence program within credit and connect outputs to the Bank’s climate transition plan.
- Support the delivery of the net zero program from a 2nd line perspective. This includes the integration of net zero tools to inform the Bank’s client engagement strategy.
- Enhance the governance, monitoring, and internal reporting of climate risk.
- Contribute content for internal and external reporting requirements.
- Inform executives on new and pending climate risk issues, regulations, and legislation.
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook, and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have experience with:
- Undergraduate and/or graduate degree.
- At least 2-4 years of relevant climate change/net zero experience. Experience in a risk or audit role at a financial institution would be considered an asset,
- Knowledge of climate change risks and their potential impact financial institutions.
- Familiarity with climate risk management and reporting regulations, standards, and guidelines for the financial sector.
- Strong communication and relationship skills with a proven track record of engaging and presenting to stakeholders.
- Spanish language fluency would be considered an asset.
*Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. No business travel expected.
