Purpose
The Manager, Business Risk Management contributes to the overall success of the Business Risk Management function in International Banking by executing, embedding, and sustaining IB Non-Financial Risk (NFR) programs across assigned areas.They will support the Senior Managers and Director, Business Risk Management by operationalizing the IB NFR framework, monitoring control effectiveness, driving remediation, and escalating emerging risks and systemic issues. Ensures all activities conducted are following governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
What You'll Do:
- Execute IB Non-Financial Risk (NFR) programs including RCSA, NIRA, KRIs, Issues Management, Operational Risk Events, and Third-Party Risk Management.
- Support governance reporting, risk appetite monitoring, and escalation of emerging risks, including development of executive materials and metrics.
- Act as a partner to Business Lines and Regional/Country stakeholders to establish effective controls that support growth, productivity, and risk mitigation.
- Provide guidance to business units on control breakdowns, action plans, and escalation to appropriate executives.
- Share Business Risk Management review recommendations and lessons learned to drive consistency and improve risk performance indicators.
- Coordinate and support remediation of audit findings and risk issues, ensuring deficiencies are addressed and commitments delivered on time
- Provide oversight and monitoring of control effectiveness, including independent review support where required.
- Monitor industry, regulatory, and emerging risk trends and provide insights to leadership.
- Support first line testing activities including testing plans, sampling, execution, and reporting.
- Support risk culture initiatives, including coaching and training on NFR frameworks and tools.
- Promote a risk-aware culture; ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices.
- Remaining current on BRM policies, standards, and procedures across jurisdictions.
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor degree or equivalent.
- +5 years of Business Line risk management work experience.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Fluent in English and Spanish
- Expert knowledge in ability to communicate strategy and status of initiatives to executives by producing high quality presentations and materials to be used in meetings and committees.
- Previous experience in audit, testing, or risk & controls analysis is an asset
- Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong ability to balance competing/ conflicting goals of various stakeholders, requiring a mature, diplomatic approach and highly developed negotiation and influencing skills.
- Demonstrate flexibility and comfort in dealing with change/ambiguity. The individual must adapt to an environment of uncertainty and shifts in priority
- Highly developed cultural sensitivity to operate effectively across cultural and language differences is required.
- Ability to learn, and assimilate, learned information into recommendations and strategies quickly.
