The team:

Scotiabank’s Global Technology Services (GTS) – Strategic Portfolio Office (SPO) manages the development, execution and performance of GTS’ strategy & roadmap. We ensure a stable, secure & efficient infrastructure and service delivery, that protects the customer experience and supports business growth. We lead efforts around performance, optimization and innovation, best practice portfolio management, GTS financial management and transparency and GTS employee experience excellence.


Within GTS-SPO, the Business & Financial Intelligence (BFI) team’s most relevant activities are:

  • Business and financial reporting and variance analysis.
  • Business case financial reviews.
  • Benefits realization tracking and recognition letters.
  • Global chargeback and cost recovery models.
  • Oversight on global Technical Service Agreement (TSA) for GTS.
  • Ad-hoc financial analysis.
  • Key stakeholder liaising for industry & regulatory policies.


The role:

As a leader, you will support the overall outsourcing services performance in terms of contract execution versus budget and forecast. You’ll also play a critical part in identifying and explaining critical aspects that generate variations amid actual executions and financial expectations.


When required, you can work evenings and/or weekends, often on short notice, to meet tight deadlines.


Is this role right for you?

  • You thrive on business support and insights as an IT financial services subject matter expert to all units within the scope of accountability. This includes continuously communicating the financial results, explaining the key components of the Infrastructure Costs profile and collaborating with local IT planning and finance teams in solving and attending different requirements such taxation audits, financial consolidation reports, analysis of consumption trends of the services and overall business cases financial support.
  • You want to be challenged with the analysis of monthly expenditures, requesting information from transit owners, and other business units to explain and, in some cases, justify expenditures and allocations to provide rationale for increases.
  • You understand budget preparation, including analysis for growth and budget changes, for senior executives in the countries in scope and in Executive Offices.
  • You enjoy establishing and developing relations with senior management and external partners and stakeholders.


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • You have excellent communication (verbal/written/presentation) skills in English.  The same in Spanish is an asset.
  • You have at least 5+ years of professional working experience in performing financial analysis.
  • You can demonstrate working experience in performing financial analysis on budgets ranging from $10,000 to millions of dollars.
  • You have at least 1+ years of working experience in producing summaries for senior leaders and/or executives (Director level to CTO/CIO/COO/CEO/CFO).
  • You can demonstrate a strong qualitative & quantitative analytical skill, combined with critical thinking.
  • You can juggle multiple competing priorities with an attention to detail.
  • Self-driven, highly energetic and a team player attitude is a part of your DNA.
  • You have strong interpersonal abilities, which puts you at ease to establish and develop relations with senior management and external partners and stakeholders.
  • You are proficient in the use of MS Power Point & other tools to produce presentation decks for both a technical and business audience.
  • You are proficient in the use of MS Excel to create & maintain pivot tables.
  • You have completed a post-secondary education in Business Management, Economics or Engineering.
  • Certified Public Accountant designation is an asset.
  • Working experience in Allocation of Cost within multiple business lines and definition of Drivers is an asset.

    • Also located steps from TTC’s 511 Bathurst streetcar stop, which is a transfer point from TTC’s Line 2 subway stop at Bathurst station.
    • If you really want to drive to work, it’s minutes away from the Gardiner Expressway / Lakeshore Boulevard West.
