As Manager, Accounting & Subvention Revenue Operations you will contribute to the overall success of the CBF Finance team that supports Automotive Finance (AF) business line in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. In this role, you will ensure all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

Is This Role Right for You? In this role, you will:

  • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Manage various processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of subvention billing payments from car manufacturers:
    • Manage and maintain the consolidated summary of all provisions of manufacturer financial services agreements (FSAs) related to subvention invoicing; maintain the accuracy of the consolidated summary by performing routine audits of subvention calculations and tracking updates to FSAs and subvention billing calculations within the summary; act as a liaison with the AF Business Intelligence & Information Systems (BIIS) and Manufacturer Partnerships (MP) teams to ensure subvention billing complies with contractual requirements.
    • Manage investigation and resolution of all disputed amounts in manufacturer subvention invoices; analyze trends and key reasons for discrepancies and implements solutions to minimize the number of disputed subvention amounts.  A key goal is to maintain high manufacturer customer satisfaction and prevent revenue leakage for the bank; act as a liaison with key stakeholders in the AF Head Office to resolve subvention revenue related issues.
    • Work closely with the Senior Analyst, Finance to ensure all processes related to subvention invoicing are adhered to; including monitoring Accounts Receivable to ensure the timely collection of subvention payments from the manufacturers with correct application of payments to the GL accounts.
  • Manage the preparation of monthly variable compensation calculations for Prime and SDA Sales team (Area Sales Managers, Inside Area Sales Managers, Retail Sales Managers, etc.) based on methodology outlined in the Sales Variable Compensation Plan documents approved by the business line and HR; provide monthly breakdown of compensation payments to HR and AF Sales team for payment and communication to eligible sales team members.
  • Manage the implementation and maintenance of financial/accounting operations processes for Automotive Finance to ensure accurate financial reporting, including but not limited to accrual processes for monthly operating expenses and Sales variable compensation accruals; work with the Manager, Finance to ensure the financial impact of these financial processes are accurately captured in periodic forecasting/planning activities.
  • Support Senior Manager, Accounting & Financial Operations (A&FO) in managing team’s projects as required, including coordination of project status updates from A&FO team members, project documentation, etc.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do You Have the Skills?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in data management. FP&A experience an asset.
  • Developed planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to gather, understand, and action business requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to build relationships across the Bank and with external vendors.
  • Developed presentation and written communication skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
