The role:
Part of a dynamic team within the Procurement group that contributes to the overall success of the Procurement function globally by ensuring initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the department’s business strategies and objectives. The Manager reports to the Senior Manager, Procurement Engagement and Governance and works with multiple stakeholders across the Bank. The Manager will support in the development, governance, and management of the sustainable procurement standards/practices internally, with providing quality assurance review and externally, with maintaining standards related to the Sustainable Procurement procedures.
The role is to serve as program manager on various initiatives to advance progress on Scotiabank’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) priorities, enabling integration and support of sustainability procurement strategies, supplier diversity and special projects related to sustainability. This will require creativity, flexibility, analytical abilities, structured thinking, and strong written and oral communication skills. The successful candidate will be adaptable to a range of challenging projects and have a strong interest in sustainable procurement, innovation, and financial services.

- Champion a customer-focused culture that deepens client relationships and leverages broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Support the design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Procurement’s internal and external sustainable procurement capabilities.
- Support governance, training, coordination, and enhancement of sustainability policies, procedures, and standards across the Procurement function.
- Lead and manage the Bank’s Global Supplier Inclusion program.
- Design and implement supplier inclusion frameworks that support corporate sustainability and inclusion mandates and commitments.
- Partner with Procurement teams and business units to identify and remove barriers in the procurement process.
- Build and maintain relationships with certified diverse and Indigenous businesses, certification councils, industry peers, and external organizations.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to embed supplier sustainability strategies across sourcing, contracting, supplier relationship management, and reporting activities.
- Identify opportunities to integrate sustainable procurement practices across the enterprise.
- Stay informed of sustainable procurement best practices, emerging trends, and market developments through internal and external networks.
- Support a ONE Procurement culture through clear communication, process standardization, and stakeholder engagement.
- Prepare and present Procurement strategies, initiatives, and project updates using synthesis, data visualization, and storytelling.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Do you have what it takes to succeed in this role?
- Bachelor’s degree in sustainability management, or related field; Master’s degree preferred
- 5 + years’ previous experience in sustainable procurement and supplier inclusion within financial services, or procurement related field
- Ability to speak Spanish fluently (asset)
- Advanced experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
- Demonstrated experience within Sustainable Procurement and Supplier Diversity/Inclusion
- Detailed understanding of environmental impacts in a supply chain
- Knowledge of and experience with material environmental, social and governance factors
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to effectively communicate with senior management
- Proven ability to balance multiple priorities, adapt to constantly changing business environment, work independently, drive projects to completion, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in project management, with demonstrated accountability and experience with senior-level stakeholders.
