Purpose

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Scrum Master to champion agile practices and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement within our Global Payments Engineering team. This role partners closely with engineering leads, product, design, and delivery teams to facilitate agile ceremonies, remove impediments, and ensure alignment on sprint goals and priorities. The Lead Scrum Master will also provide leadership across multiple teams, acting as an agile coach, defining agile strategy, and holding Scrum Masters accountable to continuous improvement metrics. This role plays a critical part in improving delivery outcomes and enabling high‑performing teams.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead teams, other Scrum Masters and mature agile execution across multiple teams, ensuring alignment to enterprise priorities and delivery outcomes
  • Set expectations for agile excellence, team health, and continuous improvement, holding teams and Scrum Masters accountable to measurable results
  • Facilitate and elevate agile ceremonies to drive clarity, commitment, and execution rigor
  • Partner with Product, Engineering Leads, and Delivery leadership to define priorities, manage dependencies, and deliver against strategic roadmaps
  • Proactively identify systemic impediments and drive resolution across organizational boundaries
  • Provide oversight for program level releases and complex, cross team initiatives.  Oversee and coordinate program releases and implementations. This includes coordinating with other technology, business or operations stakeholders to guarantee the success of a release i.e. operational readiness documentation and processes, change management coordination, security, NFT, infrastructure requirements etc.
  • Establish and maintain transparent delivery metrics, using insights to inform leadership decisions and improve performance
  • Coach and mentor Scrum Masters and team members, strengthening agile capability and leadership depth
  • Champion an inclusive, high trust environment that enables innovation, constructive challenge, and continuous learning
  • Influence behaviors, mindsets, and ways of working, constructively challenging the status quo to improve effectiveness
  • Operate with comfort and credibility in a fast paced, evolving environment
  • Maintain a regular on site presence (minimum two days per week) to support teams and stakeholders (this could change in the future according to organization policies).

 

What You'll Bring:

  • 10+ years of experience in IT or a related technical domain, with demonstrated delivery leadership
  • 5+ years of experience leading people and/or large, complex cross‑functional or cross‑regional initiatives
  • Advanced experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach, with the ability to operate at both team and program levels
  • Deep expertise in Agile frameworks, including Scrum and Kanban, with a focus on practical application and outcomes
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence without authority
  • Proven ability to identify delivery risks early and drive mitigation through data‑informed decision‑making
  • Experience leveraging analytics and delivery metrics to improve execution, predictability, and team health
  • Proficiency with agile tooling such as Mural, Leankit, Jira and Confluence
  • Agile certification (CSM, SAFe, or equivalent) strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated success operating in environments with changing priorities and high delivery expectations
